[Carson may not be ready today, but we’re asked to judge him based on a mistake he made in 2004.]

There are plenty of others reasons for me not to vote for Carson. It has nothing to do with a “mistake” he made in 2004.

Ok. Just did. It does sound like a bad company that Trump allowed to advertise on his show and gave a speech or two. One difference is Ben Carson basically denied having anything to do with the company except a few speeches. It was easy to find the video where he endorses them. His relationship was over a 10 year span. Carson’s video was supposedly made after the company was investigated for false claims. Trump endorsed the company’s product, a video phone, which wasn’t being used as a cure for cancer. Carson is a doctor and was endorsing a product that was being touted as a cure for cancer, aids, etc.

Again the candidates need to be vetted now, not later. This is a fair question for Trump to answer too.

Carson denied having much to do with the company at tonight's debate.

What I remember him saying was he gave some speeches for mannatech, that he speaks before many groups,he didn't know they had his pic on their homepage, and finally that he uses their supplements, and feels they are good products.

My initial interpretation was the moderator was trying to make it appear he had a relationship with a company for whom he had only given a speech for remuneration.

However, as the exchange between the moderator, and Carson continued, I thought he was trying to obfuscate, and his relationship to the company was more than just a paid speech, and a picture they posted of him without his knowledge or permission

I'm no Carson fan, but this is a big nothing-burger.

What the Hell is wrong with people? Ok, so some candidates have lent their faces or words to companies, either saying nice things or actually endorsing their products.

I say BFD! and SO WHAT?

Isn't America supposed to be the home of the original free enterprise system? It doesn't matter if it's Carson being associated with a health supplement company, Trump involved in what some have called 'multi-level marketing' (yes Woofie, I see you back up to your old tricks), or even J.D. Hayworth's (remember him?) brief affiliation with a company hawking 'free seminars' to get 'free money'.

It all comes down to a basic principle which is:

CAVEAT EMPTOR (let the buyer beware)

Consumers who are fools in how they spend their money would be fools without any celebrities endorsing this product or that product.

I agree. I would like some more facts.

Giving a speech for a fee at an annual conference is not an endorsement.

The Mail makes it sound like he was doing infomercials for the company.

As more gets out on CARSON, he will fade away.

He didn't even know enough about the national debt and the debt ceiling to cogently discuss his position on whether or not he would raise the debt ceiling. He's not ready prime time.

It’s nothing much new in the way of things, really.

Chuck Woolery, Fred Thompson, William Devane, Ed Asner, even Henry Winkler I seem to recall.......all of them on the air in commercials hawking products or services I thought were scams.

Carson definitely isn’t my guy and I won’t vote for him but it is for other reasons than this one thing.

Carson was terrible.

Rubio can play second fiddle to Donald. As long as he plays it correctly, he can be the VP (which is definitely a low effort job). Cruz can be AG until there is a vacancy on the Supreme Court, at which time he can be placed in his rightful place as supervisor of the constitution.

I see the Rove plan is coming together beautifully. Just like it did in 2008 and 2012

Rove’s MO: Plant innuendo, rumor and hearsay into the “news” Have them relentlessly slime any Non GOPE candidate knowing the “conservatives” will be so busy fragging each other the GOPe candidate can slide to the nomination.

And “Conservatives” wonder why they lose time after time after time?

That’s the ticket. When you cannot make a case for you guy, slander the other guy. And you wonder why you continually lose elections?

.

Ben Carson's debate debacle was his own fault ... he was awful ...

Asked if he was associated with the Harlic (sp) nutrition supplememt, Ben carson said the question was an example of media propaganda ...

... and then INCREDIBLY said that he had given two (paid) speeches for the Harlic (sp) company.

I'm sorry. But where I come from taking money from a company in exchange for paid speeches is "indeed" being associated with the company.

Worse still, Ben Carson ended that line of debate questioning with a shit-eating smile that appeared that he didn't give a damn about being truthful.

Not sure this will really hurt Carson. If anything, it will nail down his support from the “natural foods/anti-vaxxer” crowd.
