Regarding Google's malware database and malware "attack site" warnings on FR [Thread II]
October 28, 2015 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 10/28/2015 10:53:00 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Basically, google's full of crap. Apparently, they have two issues with FR. One is that a user (a long-time user not a hacker) posted a link to an image that (unknown to him) resides on a site google has registered in their database as a malware site. We've pulled the post and notified google. Have no idea when they'll stop flagging us.

The other is that we have links to aim.org. NSS! Aim (Accuracy in Media) is a well known conservative site. Have no idea how many, but I'm sure we've had hundreds or even thousands of links posted to aim.org. We're not going to pull them.

Why google is apparently randomly flagging unrelated threads on FR I have no idea. Your guess is good as mine.

But it's not just google Chrome. Any browser that relies on google's database is doing this.

If you want to stop these erroneous and obnoxious warning messages immediately, you can set a browser option to ignore such warnings. Your virus protection software will catch any real viruses.

Thank you all very much for notifying me. I've received dozens and dozens of these already. Sorry, cannot answer each one individually.

Note: If you get the dreaded red screen of horror after making a post, don't worry. Your post was successful. It's just another a false warning from google. Check the thread before posting your comment again to avoid duplicate posts.

Disturbing in that I suppose there is absolutely no way to know whether an image you wish to post is coming from a Google blacklisted site.

I’m getting duplicates posted at the exact same second, but fewer red screens.

Pluswhich, if Google is going to be anti-conservative by design or error, there are plenty of free-market alternatives.

:-)

Yeah, I am just using Edge to view FR now. No troubles on that browser either.

The AIM trigger may not have a political motivation. There is lots of bad website management out there, and lots of entry points for devious hackers and crackers.

However, this DOES happen if you use Mozilla Firefox (which says they rely on the Google outfit for their info)

Yep. Edge with Bing as a search engine doesn’t touch the flagger. At this point I don’t think it’s paranoia to wonder if Google is playing games here.

Yeah, I was one responsible for about 5 duplicate posts yesterday. Every time I tried to post I went straight to the “attack site” warning page and didn’t realize the posts were still getting through to FR. Once I went back to the page I was pretty embarrassed to discover I had made the same post 5 times. My bad.

I got this malware notice yesterday, when I was clicking to see a post up higher in the thread, to see what it was. I was going to post that I got the malware notice, but decided not to, since I was able to see FR without issues. I'm using Firefox browser.

Stupid Google.

Not necessarily true. We use IE to access one portal which processes documents for one our docs. Portal is linked to Aetna and a few other carriers. Don’t/won’t use it for anything else. Did some work on that site this morning and got the “dreaded red screen” and message which I ignored but did let them know.
