How Nelson Mandela Would Approach the Problem of Gun Violence in America

I am hopeful that everyone who comes to the meeting, including myself, will leave with a renewed sense of optimism about the daunting task that lies ahead. But I'm also hopeful about something else, which is that we will all not just learn better ways enlist more people in the crusade against gun violence, but better ways to talk about gun violence to folks who own guns. If Nelson Mandela were alive, he would say that the problem of gun violence can only be resolved by bringing everyone to the table who has a stake in the game. We need to invite the other side to join us in the discussion; if they refuse, we need to invite them again and again. That would exemplify the true spirit of Nelson Mandela and underscore what Washington's National Cathedral is really all about.

Mandela’s approach in SA was to have registration, licensing (with a 2 year wait for a restrictive license), police inspection of the storage location for firearms before they are purchased, insurance, must belong to a club, and other commonsense, reasonable things...

How would Nelson Mandela handle it?

He would have his party, based on race and tribal identity and organized on Marxist lines, take over the government completely. Their security apparatus, once being the same as the national police, would get to keep their guns, but everyone else would have theirs confiscated, under the slogans of “we must have peace!” and “stop killing our brothers!”

He’d then appoint a bunch of party cronies to run key industries.

Oh. and he would have a big rally, inviting Bono and Robert Redford. It would make a great photo-op.

On one hand he claims to be an insider in the shooting sports industry, gun shop owner and supporter of the Second Amendment, but leaves a trail “common sense” anti-gun sellout articles across the web, including his article “Open Letter to Wayne LaPierre” ( http://tiny.cc/2rty6w ) where he wrote:

“It’s easy to disparage the 90 percent of Americans who are in favor of expanding background checks by telling your audience that some unnamed Congressman from some unnamed state hasn’t gotten any calls. But maybe the time has finally come when most Americans are more worried about ending the 100,000+ firearm deaths and injuries than whether you and your NRA cult of followers can Stand and Fight.”

Clearly mikethegunguy did not bother to check the facts that the 90% lie has been debunked over and over again and it takes real balls for some hack like Weisser to bad mouth Mr Lapierre who is a true leader and defender of the RKBA, unlike this turncoat.
