I believe that Donald was still a democrat at this time he wrote this...

He was still hanging with the likes of Hillary, PELOSI and Reid!

So he makes this ridiculous statement

Does anybody really believe that Iraq is going to be a wonderful democracy where people are going to run down to the voting box and gently put in their ballot and the winner is happily going to step up to lead the county? C'mon. Two minutes after we leave, there's going to be a revolution, and the meanest, toughest, smartest, most vicious guy will take over. And he'll have weapons of mass destruction, which Saddam didn't have.

Well, yes actually. We did expect it to become a vibrant democracy.

Sort of like Germany after World War 2.

Or Japan after World War 2.

Or South Korea

But then I was not expecting us to pull our troops out any time soon. After all, we are still in Germany, Japan and South Korea.

Only an idiot (i.e. A democrat like the Donald ) would pull the troops out and allow the allow the terrorists to retake the country.

And yes, we all know that S.H. Did have weapons of mass destruction!

If his intelligence level is really this low, then we need him very, very, very far away from the levers of power.

Japan, Germany and Korea were secular nations with homogenous populations.

How can you use an absolutely perfect, spot on prediction as evidence of someone being dumb?

He’s all over the place on this and other issues. He’s been a Hillary man, a Pelosi man, a Schumer man...etc.

” Well, yes actually. We did expect it to become a vibrant democracy.”

“Sort of like Germany after World War 2.
Or Japan after World War 2.”

There’s certainly idiocy involved here.

It’s the utopian idiocy of people who ignored the role of Islam and how that makes Iraq drastically different from Germany and Japan.

The idiocy of people with the idea that everyone is basically the same, that they just need democracy, and that underlying religion is unimportant.

People who think that democracy is magic pixie dust that could turn Iraqis into postwar Germans and Japanese, without once considering what it would mean when they voted for Islamic principles and their own particular tribe.

This sort of utopian stupidity has long been the hallmark of liberals who believe in the infinite malleability of people. And the re-branded liberals calling themselves neoconservatives sold it to Dubya with a predictable result, coming as a surprise only to those who drank their koolaid.

Germany is a Christian culture where Nazism was an aberration. Ridding the Germans of that evil regime is what was required to return them to the west. They already had democracy, and Hitler had been elected, something the slow learners who believe in the magic of democracy ignored.

Japan had been emulating western government for years prior to WWII. Their Imperial Diet was composed of two Houses, one appointive and one elected. A lack of democracy wasn’t their problem. It was their ideology of militarism that had taken root in the 1880s combined with Emperor worship. We broke both by militarily defeating them. There wasn’t 1,000 years of underlying religion that was going to keep them fighting us.

Comparing our military bases in Germany and Japan with those we had in Iraq is more nonsense. Germany and Japan are homogeneous societies that were pacified within five years. We kept bases there for forward basing during the Cold War with the USSR and keep them now for forward basing in the event of future wars. It has nothing to do with keeping either nation intact.

Iraq by contrast is an artificial nation with three tribal groups and a Sunni Shiite split all fighting each other. By dethroning the thug Saddam Dubya managed to hand Iraq over to the Shiite faction much to the pleasure of neighboring Iran.

It was going to take never ending occupation to keep a lid on things and that nation intact. People with intelligence low enough to put the United States in that position had no business being President but that already happened. It’s a pity that some people haven’t learned from that mistake.

I'm not even a Trump supporter, I'm well-aware of his about-faces on various issues and have often commented on them (though if Cruz can't break through single digits in the polls, I'd rather see Trump than Jeb or Rubio as the GOP nominee). I'm also aware of the fact that many of his die-hard fans bury their heads in the dirt when confronted with Trump's flaws.

That being said, there's still something laughable about cult-like devotees of George W. Bush calling Trump's supporters cultists. W's die-hard fans happily ignore the Bush's liberalism on a whole range of issues and the cronyism of the Bush clan. So Bush supporters criticizing Trump fans for the same is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

I like Trump. His “border wall” is absolutely needed to save America. Absolutely.

So I hope he does not squander his credibility with a series of small white lies that are then easily disproved.

Once I start to think that Trump will “say anything”, he starts to lose my support...

I think we are in complete agreement that you are an irredeemable idiot.

There’s certainly idiocy involved here.

The only real difference is that we pulled our troops out of Iraq.

Do you actually believe the rubbish you type?

This sort of utopian stupidity has long been the hallmark of liberals who believe in the infinite malleability of people. And the re-branded liberals calling themselves neoconservatives sold it to Dubya with a predictable result, coming as a surprise only to those who drank their koolaid.

Good Grief.

And you might want to take note that we have had a 'never ending occupation' of both Germany, Japan and South Korea.

Go back to the Democrat Underground. You will be happier there.

We are talking about ‘trump’.

Your tag line is appropriate.

He fires everyone he disagrees with.

Whatever.

‘trump’ is so far to the left of W it is ridiculous.

But hey, if you like hard left liberals bent on gun grabbing, socialized medicine then you have two great candidates to choose from in ‘trump’ and ‘sanders’.

Have fun.

The only difference is that democrats pulled the troops out of Vietnam and Iraq.

Japan, Germany and Korea still have substantial American support to this day.

Still out there trying to fire the American people? SHAME ON YOU. Trumpinator (You are all fired!!! TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP!)

Making statements isnt quite....the same.... as claiming the Bush Whitehouse tried to SILENCE them ..IS IT.

No. But at least we made progress. You have admitted that Trump was telling the truth when he claimed he tried to warn them.

“I think we are in complete agreement that you are an irredeemable idiot. “

No, but I could be convinced that that is a fair self-description of you, considering that your posting content primarily deals in insult.

“And you might want to take note that we have had a ‘never ending occupation’ of both Germany, Japan and South Korea. “

Well I addressed that briefly in my previous post, but I’ll admit that there were a lot of words in it for you to read.

Our occupation of Japan ended with the San Francisco Peace Treaty which became effective April 28, 1952.

Our occupation of Germany ended with the General Treaty, signed in 1952 and fully effective May 5, 1955.

The American bases that remain in both countries, contrary to your theory that that they are occupation forces, were and are forward bases for positioning military equipment and hospitals close to future conflicts. During the Cold War they were an integral part of our NATO defense against Soviet invasion through the Fulda Gap.

In Japan our bases are again part of our grand strategy that involves forward basing. A grand strategy that is a modern update of Mackinder’s Geographical Pivot of History and Alfred Thayer Mahan’s Influence of Seapower upon History.

Korea is a different story entirely. Unlike with Germany and Japan, the troops in Korea which you mistakenly believe are “occupation troops” have never been anything of the sort. South Korea has always been our ally and our troops there are a tripwire against any attack by the North and an implicit guarantee that we will join any war waged against South Korea.

“Go back to the Democrat Underground. You will be happier there.”

I doubt it. I’d have to put up with posters too much like you.
