Rumors continue to swirl that Vice President Biden will soon be (finally) making up his mind about whether to run for president. Why is this taking so long?
Conventional wisdom seems to revolve around two theories:
(1) He really hasnt made up his mind, or
(2) hes simply waiting on standby in case something big drops on frontrunner Hillary Clinton. Either is plausible, although the first strikes me as less plausible. If nothing else, Biden is a canny politician, and he understands the difficulties of entering the race this late in the game. I dont think hed simply wait around this long without a good reason.
So let me explore a third possibility: Biden is simply intent on avoiding the errors that plagued previous late entrants. If he does end up running, Id say this was certainly the case.
Put yourself in Bidens shoes. It is January 2015, and youre a sitting vice president who ran for president in 1988 and 2008 with less-than-encouraging results. The partys 2008 runner-up is running again and holds leads on the order of 50 points in the polls. Reluctantly, you decide this just isnt the year.
But then this email scandal breaks. Your sons dying wish is for you to seek the Oval Office. And over the summer, a socialist overtakes Clinton in New Hampshire, and gains on her in Iowa. Her national vote total falls below 50 percent.
So realize over the summer that this undertaking is actually doable. You pretty much have control of your personal demons. You miss your son greatly, and how better to honor him than running? Youve run before and lost, but that was as the senator from Delaware (the junior senator from Delaware on the first go-round), not the sitting vice president.

Obama said “no”
Fourth alternative: Hillary has something on him.
Or (3). He’s still got his head stuck in the banister.
He’s giving Hillary time to marinade.
That “real clear?” LOL. Clear as mud.
They don’t call him “slow Joe” for nothing.
My guess is there is a ‘clean-up’ in process that has to be squared away before going on. Wouldn’t want something to show up next year, such as the parents of some little girl that he went too far with initiating a law suit. Better to pay them all off now and get contracts on their silence.
Because he’s Joe Biden. He’s just an odd dude.
I truly don’t think he wants to run.
But there must be a lot of pressure from people who think that Hillary will get the nomination and not give it up under any circumstances. Democrats know she will lose the general election, and have to stop her before the convention.
I suspect that Biden and Obama are in cahoots to stop Hillary. If Biden enters the race at this late stage, he will need a brisk wind to sweep him ahead of Clinton. Obama and his Department of Justice have the sole power to create that wind (or to shut it off) with a threatened (or squelched) indictment. If Biden rides to the rescue I would expect this to happen after Hillary testifies before Gowdy’s committee. We will soon see...
He would have to make a decision, something he has never done.
There’s a complicated behind the scenes dance going on.
Biden will need to steal donors and superdelegates away from Hillary in order to even have a shot at the nomination. He and his folks are busy trying to gauge those folks’ willingness to bolt.
There’s also quite a bit of light skirmishing going on between the two campaigns, using surrogates. For instance yesterday mornings story in the pro-Clinton press about Biden switching his story on the bin Laden raid was followed in the afternoon by story that the draft Whitewater indictment of Hillary was real and a copy may soon be provided to Judicial Watch.
Biden said he would agree to one term which translates to “I agree to cover up what’s been done”.
Continue the cover up of what’s been done is why Hillary and Jeb are being pushed so hard.
Democrats and GOPe republicans both need to cover up what’s been done.
I think if Trump gets in, he will go through everything and expose them for the P’sOS they all are.
Maybe he’s channeling his son to be sure his son really wanted him to run for president.
Looking a the polls, it seems a no-brainier, which is appropriate. Per same polls, he would beat all of the listed GOP, Hillary would not.
He thinks he is Paul Ryan?
