Survey Shows Skepticism of Benghazi Committee Motives [Thanks Congressman Kevin McCarthy]
Roll Call ^ | 10/18/2015 | By Hannah Hess

Roughly half of Republicans think Congress is seriously interested in finding out the truth about the Benghazi attacks, according to a recent Economist Group/YouGov Poll.

Only 49 percent of GOP respondents agreed that the 17-month investigation into events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012 assault on the U.S. diplomatic consulate in Libya represents a “mostly serious attempt to find out what really happened.”

The poll, conducted Oct. 8-12, surveyed 2,000 Americans on whether the Benghazi probe is politically motivated, in the wake of sniping about House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s rhetorical flap. House Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., has been defending his panel after accusations that Republicans are out to get former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

But Democrats who responded to the poll did not show overwhelming support for their party’s messaging either. Only 50 percent agreed the Benghazi investigation was mostly orchestrated to embarrass the Obama administration and Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner.

Overall, 30 percent of respondents agreed politics — not fact-finding — prompted the panel’s work, while about a quarter of respondents thought Congress was equally motivated by both. Another 24 percent of those polled think investigators want to find out what really happened.

This is more a reflection of the fact that voters believe the GOP haven’t the balls to do or go after anything.
They wet their pants closing the government down for heavens sake.

What could be ant possible outcome here, a harsh letter?

I don’t think so either. Justice should never take so long, one way or another. It is like a reality show that has no end. Especially the part where the suspect is running for president

As we speak Chuck Todd has been using McCarthy's betrayal as a heavy blunt instrument to relentlessly bludgeon the republican leadership of the committee, doing everything he can on national TV to discredit the entire investigation.

For whatever reason, McCarthy has saved Clinton's candidacy from cratering beginning Thursday. Like the filthy 'rat from Michigan who sold his pro life principles to save obamacare, McCarthy needs to resign in quiet disgrace.

You have no idea how long real government investigations can last. Here in Cleveland, the FBI staged a raid on a county official's home, took everything and disappeared. Years went by with no word from the FBI. Some media people would occasionally ask WTF happened to that investigation. No answer. When the FBI was ready, they convicted a rash of officials and sent the biggest to prison for 25 years or so.

Taking too long. This means the whole thing will go down in flames. Much BS and justice will not be served . Hillary will get off.

Did anyone truly think any of the part if the Benghazi matter was ever going to stick to Hillary anyway?

The fix has been in from day one. Hillary will not ever face prosecution. She, like the guy who poses as her husband before her, is entirely immune from laws that govern the rest of us.

That said, McCarthy and that traitor in NY should be forced to resign forthwith for interfering with the investigative process, no matter how pre-determined the outcome.

Kevin needs to be thrown out of party leadership position, permanently.

The GOP cannot stand this apparition once again.

McCarthy waved his RINO colored flag for all to see with his moronic remarks. It was not done by accident. Little if anything in DC is.

McCarthy is just another symptom of a more serious disease within the GOP. The party is devoid of any real principles or purpose. It is a soulless party.

It should be pretty obvious to most conservatives that the GOP does not represent us. Its “failure” over such an extended period of time is no accident.

It seems obvious that Kevin wanted to protect Hillary.

Agree. He proved right there that he is not up to the job. Unbelievable that he would say what he did, especially when it is not true.

I have seen that “rhino colored” flag. It is as white as snow.
The French flew it a lot in the last century. They do not seem to need it as often now, so maybe the UniParty got them with a huge discount.

I see this as good news.

Hillary and the Democrats are trying to say that all the Republicans just want to get rid of her.

This shows that Republicans think before making a decision.

Go ask any Democrat whether Nixon was guilty. Then ask them what Nixon did.

It’s the Democrats who automatically assume guilt of Republicans.

Wait for the movie “13 Hours”. The sheep won’t be polling for Hillary then.

Its been 3 years. People need to be reminded what really happened. The whole political investigation has been a joke. “What does it really matter?”

“We are over-run!”

Looks like hillary and her boss got away with it. Scot free. The public is incapable of understanding what happened. Just as I predicted.
