And what he did with his lies about George Allen were beyond the pale.

Can’t stand him and all the rest of the liars up there last night.

Why is he still in the Democrat Party? He should go to the GOP.

The father of a high school friend of mine worked at B.F. Goodrich Aerospace. They designed and manufactured the Apollo astronauts’ space suits. He told me that his father was in a meeting where the recording of voice communications between the ground and the astronauts in Apollo I during the fire was played. Suffice to say they did not die instantly and there’s a reason that recording was never made public. It was horrible and whoever decided to design the hatch so it was difficult to open, and went lowest bid on the wiring, may have been criminally negligent. But to contend they were “murdered” is beyond the pale.

Hmmm, the way you described it, it could possibly be negligent homicide.

Should have added that NASA running the test with a pure oxygen environment, admittedly the actual flight situation, with the men inside was a huge mistake. What should have been a few sparks and smoke was incineration of three fine men.

——At least he wasn’t fighting for the other side. ——

Are you sure?...he’s been a pinko his entire life...

He probably has a picture of Jane Fonda in his wallet...

I think that could be argued. But Johnson was president, there were only three lock step TV news networks heavily invested in reporting the space program, the Cold War and Vietnam were on, and nobody wanted to besmirch NASA. Of course, things like this and worse happened regularly in the Soviet program. We televised all our launches live, something they would never have risked.

Really? Jim Webb is an authentic American hero. I don’t care what kind of political label he has.

Grissom was slamming the Apollo capsule as a lemon. They never landed on the moon. It was a hoax. It was filmed at a sound stage at Area 51 by Hollywood producers. Werner von Braun knew that THEY WOULD NOT SUCCEED. He went to Antarctica to fetch some “moon rocks” before the moon mission

I don’t care if he single-handedly won WWII using only a rusty K-bar. What he WAS does not count. The dem party is dedicated wholly, entirely, and single-mindedly to the destruction of our nation, culture, heritage, our gun rights, and our property rights. Period. End of story. If you are a dem you are a traitor dedicated to the destruction of the nation. What he WAS is irrelevant. What he is now is a traitor who hates his nation.

Yea, I caught that too. He looked like quit the Hypocrite with his “conscientious objector” remark. I thought “conscientious objectors” would still be drafted, just in an noncombat roll, no?

A Republican for most of his life, Webb endeared himself to Democrats when he switched parties and beat incumbent GOP Sen. George Allen in 2006 by just a few thousand votes. Webb ran that campaign on an anti-Iraq War message, touting his own experience in Vietnam, but may have been pushed across the finish line by Allen, who called a Democratic volunteer “Macaca” (an obscure North African racial slur) at a campaign event.

As a senator he was a bit of an iconoclast, defined mostly by his disdain for Washington (something most senators espouse but rarely act on). His first meeting with President George W. Bush ended with the senator walking away furiously, reportedly on the verge of throwing a punch, after Dubya asked Webb about his son serving in Iraq...

Let's be clear:

Captain Webb was and is a genuine American Hero.

Senator Webb was and is a genuine demonicrat scoundrel.

We've had to make the same distinction in the past regarding men like John Glenn.

From the Associated Press...

“His first meeting with President Obama ended with the senator walking away smiling like a pig after gagging on the president’s giggle pin.”
