If Bush were to be the nominee, I would write in Crus to make a statement that I vote for reliably conservative candidates.
>>Over sampling very conservative, very religious and college or more will cause Carsons numbers to rise.<<
Interesting comment. So essentially you’re saying that educated religious conservatives support Carson. Seems to me like a pretty good base to start from.
It’s more pronounced in the ‘very conservative republican’ numbers. But those other areas are also more favorable to Carson.
It makes sense. It also makes sense that those numbers of Carson would go to Cruz before they would to Trump or any of the other frontrunning Republicans.
>>Carson is a wonderful person, but I just don’t think the country would elect another black President in 2016 after Obama.<<
So Obama made all those horrible decisions because he’s (half) black? I think most voters are smarter than you seem to think....
Just as an aside: It’s possible Carson has hurt Cruz more than he’s hurt Trump.
Two in this house.
>>It also makes sense that those numbers of Carson would go to Cruz before they would to Trump or any of the other front running Republicans.<<
Possibly, but I think the bigger question is going to end up being, who do Trump’s voters go to as he continues to fade in appeal?
And that’s where Carson’s refusal to give in to the media’s mischaracterization of his remarks could be a deciding factor. Conservatives are fed up with the media driving candidates back into the bunkers and want someone who will successfully stand up to them. If you look at what Carson said to the media recently, he’s telling them to reconsider their approach to their jobs and start behaving responsibly because that’s their duty as the only vocation specifically protected in the Constitution. They need to hear that, over and over, and from someone smart enough to make a sensible case, not just from someone with nothing to offer but bombast (you know who I mean.)
I don’t think he’ll fade because the other polls are probably sampling the republicans more accurately. In looking at the republicans I know, the majority are probably moderate and not strong conservatives, and many are leaners. I’d bet the distribution goes: Strong: 30%, Moderate: 40%, and Lean: 20%.
One survey (morning consult poll) today had it Trump 34%, and Carson 20%.
Reuters 5 day tracking has it Trump 31 and Carson 21.
Only Fox had it at Trump 24 and Carson 23.
My suggestion is that the difference is based on sampling differences.
>>Just telling the truth. Many Americans are devastated by Obamas actions. I think it would have a subtle influence on their thinking, yes.<<
I doubt it very much. For one thing, most of Obama’s voters were liberals or independents, obviously. The liberals aren’t going to vote against Carson because he’s black, and in fact some of them, particularly blacks, might vote for him precisely because he IS black.
And I doubt very much that conservative voters will vote for Hillary because of their experience with Obama. Granted, some will be against Carson just because he’s black, but they were prejudiced from the get go...
I hate Jeb so much, I would possibly pull the lever for Hillary if he were the only choice. - TexasFreeper2009I cant say Id go that far! I would just not vote. Ill vote for other races, but Jeb just will not get my vote. I couldnt do it and feel I have a clean conscience.
I submit to you that each state should enforce this provision by forbidding the naming of any person on a ballot who, while an officer of the United States (or of the particular state) was an officer of any organization, including a charity or a marriage, which has, within the past decade and without specific and explicit authorization of Congress (or of the legislature of the particular state), accepted more than $5000 from a foreign prince, state, or any creature thereof.
- Article 1 Section 9:
- No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States: and no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state
That prohibition should especially extend to the placing on the ballot of any elector pledged to vote for such person. I would go further, and add a (severable, so that even if it were held unconstitutional somehow, it wouldnt affect the rest of the law) clause eliminating anyone from consideration for POTUS who recently accepted foreign money even if they were not in government employment at the time.
Every state government should enact such a law, which could of course also exclude persons too young to be president, or not born to American citizenship.Enact such a law - even if only in Ohio, Florida, and Wisconsin - and Hillary would not be nominated. And all those states have Republican governments.
One more thing: In the Fox poll, of the leading GOP candidates, Carson had the best showing against Clinton whipping her soundly 50-39%, which also contradicts the point you’re trying to make.
(any questions)
something along these lines figures in >IMO
Why is Fox allowed to push their propaganda when Barry Diller who created Fox Broadcasting Company has openly come out against the #1 candidate, said he’d leave the country if Trump wins. And Rupert Murdoch, owner of Fox, has repeatedly come out against Trump, a very vocal, public, campaign.
People talk about fair but Fox can’t be trusted, their numbers and reports can’t be trusted because the bosses have an agenda. How sad for this country that Hitler’s Joseph Goebbels now controls the news.
Say what you want, I still think otherwise. Carson is a nice man, and I wish him well. But I don’t think he is the best choice for the GOP.
Questions: Are you saying Carson is really more qualified based on intelligence, better morals and more likeable than Cruz? Would it include experience, knowledge of the constitution, a track record as a successful conservative lawmaker, or just an all around good guy?
FNC along with their fellow leftist are hoping to get a poll where Trump is losing and try and demand he drop out based on him stating he would consider dropping out if he were behind in the polls, even though this statement has been taken out context by the media whores.
If he were to drop below Carson or someone else and then refuse to kowtow to the media trash their collective heads would explode with Megan Kelly and Shep Smith the two biggest drama queens impersonating journalists having Opie Taylor laying in the floor fits live on the air.
