A "blob" of abnormally cold water in the North Atlantic, located near Greenland, has the potential to put enough drag on the ocean current to impact weather conditions in the years to come.
According to data compiled by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), sea surface water temperatures over much of the Atlantic were warmer than average spanning January to August 2015. Waters from the northwestern Caribbean to the central part of the ocean were not only very warm but were record warm.
However, very chilly to record cold water has developed near Greenland, the NOAA data revealed.
The reason for the cold pocket and less salty water is believed to be due to the melting ice in Greenland discharging fresh water into the nearby North Atlantic.

Yes, because we all know that dumping a 5 gallon bucket of cold water into an Olympic sized pool instantly creates a ‘blob of cold water’... Oh wait, no it doesn’t it reaches equilibrium almost immediately do to being overwhelmed by the mass of the ‘warm blob’ of water

Notice also that the record warmth is not stated what it was in actual temperature, at least in this article readings. That way one cannot refute the claim.
Low Earth Orbit environmental satellites have many sensors, but most of these satellites have surface Infra-Red (IR) sensors so they can scan the surface temperature of the entire surface of the planet. This is the data that the climate scientists don't use because it does not support their theory.

Just for the fun of it I counted the number of “coulds” (7) and other weasel words such as “potential”, “may be”, “if”, “assuming”, and “should” to be clear just how much this article says exactly nothing.
It is like saying “Well, if the grass in my back yard should not get enough sunlight it could die. On the other hand if it gets too much sun it could die or it could do just fine if the strain is not a shade only variety. And if there is no rain the grass may die even with the proper sunlight. Oh, and too much rain could be a problem too.” Conclusion: grass will not grow and I should just concrete the whole thing and paint it green.
