Putin's growing military support for the beleaguered Syrian leader is meant to send a clear message to other anxious despots about Russian loyalty to its friends.

I would assume it’s a foothold in the middle east. Or that whole Gog and Magog thing. Really nothing concrete, just a thought!

Better to have one brutal murderous dictator who keeps the local rif-raf on a short leash, than 100,000 brutal murderous dictators who run amock in Blumenthal endorsed anarchy for profit.

Why is Obama committed to seeing him removed?

Russia maintains that it is fighting a war against extremists, including the Islamic State and al Qaeda. It has denounced the United States and its European and Arab allies for seeking the removal of Assad, saying their blasé tendency to topple regimes that fall out of favor is condemning the Middle East and North Africa to a future consumed by chaos.

I'm not so sure I can disagree.

Which is exactly why Jordan is a paradise in the region. The king puts up with no troublemakers. If you can’t live with your neighbors without being a problem, the problem goes away. Stable, consistant ruling dictators who project and follow through with exactly what he expects isn’t exactly western political fare, but it’s the only way to govern the “Rabid dogs of Muhamadism.” The people enjoy the benefit of peace.

{”Why is Obama committed to seeing him removed?”}

Mark Levin advises that if Obama is for something, we should be against it. If he is against it, we should be for it.

Levin claims if you take that stance you will be correct 99.9% of the time.

Clearly, using that good advice, Assad should stay in power.

Gog and Magog moved. They are peoples not places. Those people conquered the Byzantines and are now Turkey

The people that publish most of those prophecy books ignore that the prophecy is about people groups not places the peoples moved!!!!! Turkey is Gog and Magog.

The false prophet has arisen and his name was Mohamed. The revived empire is not Roman but the caliphate. The beast with multiple heads and horns is political Islam.

The King got a hot wife too.

Anyway, the problem with the West is that we assume that our ideals and values are universal. Well, we are founding out that's not the case.

I have often wondered that myself. Sure, he's not a nice guy, and plays rough with his opposition. But he is managing one of the craziest areas on the planet. On one side he has Israel, on the other he has Saudi Arabia, and on a third side he's got Iraq with Iran not too far away. He's got Russian to the north, Turks, Kurds, and Shi'ite, and Sunni nutcases, Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, ISIS, Al-Quaida, and a whole bunch of palistinian-cockroaches. It doesn't look like a pleasant perch to be on top of.

Morocco is peaceful too. They have a king, and dissidents tend to disappear in the desert.

The country is stable though, without chaos.

Contrast Russia’s support for their ally in Syria with our support for our ally in Iraq (Saddam Hussein).

Jordan is screwed up because more than half of its population isn’t even Jordanian, it is Palestinian (and has been so for decades). I don’t know if Jordan would survive without Western support & money.

Russian GDP per capita is about the same as Antigua and Barbuda. Russian GDP gross is the same as Italy approximately 8 times less than the US. Putin is in desperate need of new markets and Obama has graciously given him the Middle East and Northern Africa to sell arms. Putin could give two craps about Assad as long as maintains his port IN Syria which acts as a distribution point for Russian goods. Read subprime arms at exorbitant prices. Putin is a commie bastard but a commie bastard with big balls compared to our Presidents bb’s.

Why is Obama so committed to removing all the ME leaders from power?

The Middle East was relatively quiet until our country decided to knock off all the power people there. Saddam, Quadaffi, Mubarek, on and on.

Didn’t we learn our lesson when we emasculated the Shah of Iran?

Doesn't seem rational that we didn't. Which means this time it's being done on purpose.
