Ben Carson and Donald Trump are tied among GOP voters in Pennsylvania, a new poll finds.

Carson and Trump each receive 18 percent support from registered Republicans in the Keystone State, according to the Mercyhurst University Center for Applied Politics poll on Monday.

Former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Fla.) trails them with 9 percent. Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina next grabs 8 percent support among registered Pennsylvania Republicans.

Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) and Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) are in a struggle for fifth place with 4 percent apiece.

That early burst Fiorina got after the debate seems to have really worn off- at 6% in our new national poll and she had 8% a month ago— PublicPolicyPolling (@ppppolls) October 5, 2015

Well, Trump has to be happy. The previous PA poll (by a different outfit) had Rubio way up and now this one has Rubio in single digits.

Either I am really missing something with Carson, or he is, as I keep thinking, the "Trump Parking Lot" for people who want a major change but are just "uncomfortable" with Trump's "brashness."

When I lived in PA. I worked for the Santorum campaign, we had a great showing all through PA, EXCEPT for Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia, all where the RATS live...we lost....

If you don't get these big cities in PA, your NOT going to win....

They can say whatever they like.

In a world where Trump pulls in 10, 20, and 30 thousand people to a political event, and Carson pulls in 10, 20, and 30 tens of people to an event, I’m not buying into them being tied.

Why not just say that Carson has four times the following of Trump? I mean if you’re going to manipulate the figures to this degree, why not go all the way?

“And up here in this corner of the doll house we see Ben Carson with his dog Chewey. See how much more presidential he looks than that mean old Trump man?”

“Yeah aunt Niblets, but this is a doll house. I think mom’s right, maybe you’ve gone round the bend.”

Here is the latest RCP PA polls. Harper, a Republican poll, has Trump at 30, Carson at 27: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/pa/pennsylvania_republican_presidential_primary-3788.html

Overall, Trump is averaging a 5-point lead in PA, down from 11 a couple of weeks ago---but in June Quinnipiac had him trailing Rubio

iCarly has a very important function in relation to The Donald - to more carefully craft his responses to a challenge being made by a female candidate, so as to not throw a great deal of weight behind charges he is “sexist”. Depending on how this exchange takes place, iCarly could also have a very good chance of serving in a Trump Administration.

[ I am really missing something with Carson]

Conservatives, who were enamored by Carson when he made the national scene at the National Prayer Breakfast, have blindly endorsed him without doing their homework.

Carson is definitely a "Trump Parking Lot" for many voters.

Hear me out on this. Donald Trump is still polarizing. If you are at a family function or with co-workers, stating you are for Donald Trump is likely to get you shouted down by any liberals that are around. Most people want to avoid getting into a political argument in these situations. Stating support for Carson or Fiorina is the safer way to go and you still get to go on record as supporting a non politician.

Best of both worlds. No liberal or pollster is going to challenge you or shout you down for supporting a black man or a woman for president AND you get to state that you are fed up with establishment politicians which will even get the liberals to nod their heads in agreement.

In the privacy of the voting booth, look for many of those Carson and Fiorina supporters to pull the lever for Trump instead.

My unofficial formula in interpreting polls is to tally up the percentages for Trump, Carson and Fiorina and subtract 10 (as I believe both Carson and Fiorina's true support is around 5%). The remaining total is the true percentage for Trump.

Agree with your words. If you say you are a Trumpeter, people look at you like you have a second nose.

How does a candidate get to be rated in a poll?

He’s black

And that shtick already been done.

The marketing gig here is, elect our black guy, he's way better then the first try.

But Carson would be in over his head. Watching Putin run a game on the wannabe Chicago Gang Banger Obama the Ofay is a hoot except that it has serious implications.

No such thing would happen with Don Trump. Backing off is not in his character set.

Presidential primary polling in PA? Can’t say I ever remember PA republican voters having a choice when the primary election day rolled around.

Probably. Still, given he has no real policies save “he’s religious” and “he’s nice” and “he stands up to Muslims,” it’s pretty amazing that his support has been so steady.

re: Carson as the "Trump Parking Lot". I've been thinking that explains polls such as this one. The voters who hoped Fiorina was an outsider, but not Trump, have become disillusioned with Cara. So they went to Carson.

They're coming along. Trump grows on people. After Carson and Fiorina, I doubt they'll go back to the establishment hacks. Next stop, Trump.

One thing I've noticed is that since the dust-up about Carson questioning Trump's religious views, they seem to be in agreement about things. Wonder what they're up to.

Gosh, I've never liked soap operas. This one....Candidate Apprentice...is mind-bogglingly fun!

I’m not buying into them being tied.

Don't you just hate those polls that contradict your thoughts?

I took a Rasmussen phone poll last week and the only candidate mentioned was Trump, the question was how likely was it that I would vote for him.

I responded that I would absolutely vote for him. The poll results should be interesting.
