Well, Trump has to be happy. The previous PA poll (by a different outfit) had Rubio way up and now this one has Rubio in single digits.

Either I am really missing something with Carson, or he is, as I keep thinking, the "Trump Parking Lot" for people who want a major change but are just "uncomfortable" with Trump's "brashness."

[ I am really missing something with Carson]

Conservatives, who were enamored by Carson when he made the national scene at the National Prayer Breakfast, have blindly endorsed him without doing their homework.

Carson is definitely a "Trump Parking Lot" for many voters.

Hear me out on this. Donald Trump is still polarizing. If you are at a family function or with co-workers, stating you are for Donald Trump is likely to get you shouted down by any liberals that are around. Most people want to avoid getting into a political argument in these situations. Stating support for Carson or Fiorina is the safer way to go and you still get to go on record as supporting a non politician.

Best of both worlds. No liberal or pollster is going to challenge you or shout you down for supporting a black man or a woman for president AND you get to state that you are fed up with establishment politicians which will even get the liberals to nod their heads in agreement.

In the privacy of the voting booth, look for many of those Carson and Fiorina supporters to pull the lever for Trump instead.

My unofficial formula in interpreting polls is to tally up the percentages for Trump, Carson and Fiorina and subtract 10 (as I believe both Carson and Fiorina's true support is around 5%). The remaining total is the true percentage for Trump.

re: Carson as the "Trump Parking Lot". I've been thinking that explains polls such as this one. The voters who hoped Fiorina was an outsider, but not Trump, have become disillusioned with Cara. So they went to Carson.

They're coming along. Trump grows on people. After Carson and Fiorina, I doubt they'll go back to the establishment hacks. Next stop, Trump.

One thing I've noticed is that since the dust-up about Carson questioning Trump's religious views, they seem to be in agreement about things. Wonder what they're up to.

Gosh, I've never liked soap operas. This one....Candidate Apprentice...is mind-bogglingly fun!

I'm guessing your theory is probably pretty good. The reality is that the Pennsylvania Presidential Primary is so late in the season (end of April) that how we vote seldom makes a difference.

BO and Hillary both campaigned here in 2008 because their race was somewhat close. Although Hillary won handily, it didn't make much of a difference because BO, while starting to sputter about that time, also had a big lead.

It isn't popular to say so, but Pennsylvania basically follows national trends, we don't create them.

Carson is a very likeable, admirable man with an Horatio Alger story. Even his opposition can not demonize him.

I think Carson occupies the Huckabee spot this time around. IOW his base are the social issues first conservatives.

Carson is the candidate for people who are college-educated and lean RINO but are still fairly religious. They’re just liberalized enough to care about proving to people that they’re not racist.
