I sort of think war should be brutal
Trying to limit civilian casualties and be civilized makes it more likely that more wars will be fought.
If it isn’t worth going in and killing everyone, fighting to the bitter end maybe it isn’t worth going to war over.
With Muslims wearing no uniforms and taqiyya how can anyone says who or if there are civilians. Likely not Christians anyway as ISIS has killed most of them.
+1. Good comment.
It seems the more ‘surgical’ the war is the longer it lasts and therefore the more carnage in the long run.
Anything else prolongs them and nobody wants that.
Like Trump said maintain and build our great military, hope you never have to use it.
We do not live in a world where peace is attainable without force.
Might does not make right but it does enforce the commonly recognized rights of each succeeding generation.
Some day tens of thousands of years from now, our world may not need wars but today to think otherwise is foolish. However, do we sacrifice the cream of our crop for 7th century mentality? Yeah Fai Mo like you said *isn't worth to war over*And around you go.
I agree 100%.

You beat me to it and said it wonderfully. Our insane ROE lead directly to casualties for our troops.
“It is well that war is so terrible — lest we should grow too fond of it.”
Robert E. Lee
Grew up hearing my dad’s stories of the Italian campaign in the 40s (he was a kid there, not a soldier). Seeing the Allied bombers drop their payload overhead and he would just freeze in terror thinking they were going to land right on top of him. One eventually got his house and he was pulled out of the rubble. He never let me forget the destruction of Montecassino, which was a horrendous, horrendous mistake on the part of the Allies that killed thousands of innocent civilians and destroyed that glorious abbey.
Morally, you have to do everything you can to avoid civilian casualties. But modern war is such that it is becoming increasingly difficult.
So you don’t even think about declaring war unless the status quo of letting things alone is so monstrously horrible and unjust, that some errant bombs killing thousands becomes a greater mercy than allowing sick, evil people to murder, rape, enslave, and repress millions.
Those criteria seem to have been met for a war against the Islamic State—whoever is waging it. As terrifying as it must be to be under those bombs, I ‘m guessing that a sizable population are secretly rejoicing over those Russian payloads even as they pray feverishly not to be caught under them.
I agree, and so did this guy:
