Although I find Sen. Ted Cruzs lonely man of principle act as tired as it is phony, I should give the devil his due. Cruz has given Americans exasperated with Washington gridlock hope that Congress can, when sufficiently motivated, find consensus and act.
In this instance, the consensus is that Ted Cruz is a jackass. The bipartisan action taken was to deny him a vote on the Senate floor, and the additional speaking time he desired for another unctuous tribute to himself, courtesies that are routinely granted all senators. But hey, its hard to get Democrats and Republicans to agree on anything these days. So, congratulations, Senator Cruz, you trailblazer.
I worked on Capitol Hill for the better part of two decades. There might have been other occasions when a senator couldnt get a colleague to second his amendment, but I cant recall any. Its also unusual for senators not to agree to give a member who has exhausted his allotted speaking time a few more minutes to finish his remarks.
Then again, I cant recall any senator who was as nearly universally loathed by his colleagues as Cruz. There have been others who werent likeable. There were plenty who were self-interested and who preened and blustered as often as Cruz doesand who routinely elicited senatorial smirks and rolled eyes. There have been senators who frequently forced their colleagues to cast difficult and unpopular votes. And, of course, there is a long list of senators who ran for president and treated the Senate floor as a campaign stop. (And for some of them it worked). But no senator in my memory did all that with such abandon and was disliked with as much intensity as is Ted Cruz.

It won't work because, unlike Trump, the Establishment is reviled by the overwhelming majority of voters on the Right-- therefore, it's vitriol merely boomerangs on itself.
I had some idiot inform me that Ted Cruz would be in prison long before he ever gets near the white house.
The idiot never did quite get around to telling me why he was going to prison despite several attempts to get some answers.
I can think of one flight I bet he missed.
I guess every Senator should be more like Songbird McCain, is that it?
He calls Cruz’ stand for principles phony? This from the campaign that ran the phoniest meme ever....”The Maverick” and the “Straight Talk Express?”
Shameless Orwellian maroons.
Mr. Cruz has more guts in the tip of his little finger than McLame will ever have...and that’s coming from a Trump supporter!!!
Keating Five has been his whole life style, and he still believes it today....
People who hold the mirror of reality up to impotent narcissists are usually universally hated and loathed by those they shine the light of truth on.
Mark Salter...oh yes, he’s one of the original McCain campaign hacks who backstabbed Palin alongside Schmidt and Wallace. Salter is the real jackass.
Gridlock? Obama gets everything he wants.
Wow... speaks volumes. Jealousy and spite.
Let me be frank, because I feel at this time I should be permitted that much. John McCain, and his sycophants, are scum.
Not in the hyperbolic sense, but in the real sense of that word. His war record of crashing planes and getting captured aside, John McCain has been nothing but a perennial loser, a dementia-ridden embarrassment, and a warmonger with the blood of everyone in the Ukrainian conflict on his hands since that was his ‘pet project’. McCain posed with Baghdadi. McCain supporter rat appointments. He is a rat. A stinking, vile, filthy rat who should have bee fumigated from the senate a looong time ago.
I have no respect for this man. And yes, I’m sure some freepers will say “HOW DARE YOU SPEAK ABOUT A VETERAN LIKE THAT!”
Well, take a running jump. McCain has only one veteran credential that matters, being a veteran traitor who supports flooding the country with rapists and murderers from Mexico.
Even today, he spends most of his time in the senate kissing Linda Gayham or whining about wars that should have happened. Well, here’s a clue, Juan. Syria is far better off in Putin and Assad’s hands than yours. And the presidency of these United States is about a MILLION TIMES better off in the hands of Cruz or Trump than it EVER would have been under your command, or under the prospective ‘leadership’ of the RINO candidates I have no doubt you are bankrolling, but who languish in SINGLE DIGITS in the polls despite millions in dirty banker cash.
Do us all a favor, John. Pack your staff into a plane, then pilot it into a cliff. It shouldn’t be too hard for you.
The establishment can kick and scream all they want - it isn’t going to matter. They are going down.
What a fool, any child can see that the Uniparty always unites against anything or anyone who exposes their “good cop/bad cop” act.
Juan is a no-nothing, do-nothing. A ‘p’ in a pot. His time should be just about over. A pity so much of it was wasted. Thru eternity the only thing this old coot will be remembered for:
“bo-rock is a good family man. There is nothing to fear from bo-rock as president”
Juan lies thru his false teeth, just as the rest of the GOP-e
This article is written by Mark Salter, not John McCain, does Salter have a connection to the McCain camp?
And who cares if his corrupt “colleagues” despise him? That says more about their fear of the spotlight he’s shining on their corruption and collusion, than it does about Cruz. True patriotic Americans love Cruz. The idiot who wrote this can’t even see how just gives the game away by saying these things.
The more they hate (and fear) Cruz, the more I love and support him. He’s shining sunlight into the darkness of Congress, and the roaches are scurrying willy-nilly.
He meant re-education camp. Cruz and some of us cannot be allowed to believe what we do.
The real simple question Cruz asks is what difference does it make between a Republican majority and a Democratic majority if the results are the same. Planned Parenthood can’t be defunded, executive amnesty continues unchecked, and Obamacare rolls along like an unstoppable train. I think he’s right. In today’s Washington I guess it makes him a jackass to try and do what the people elected him to do.
