Swords may still be part of some military dress uniforms. The lack of green indicates the lack of ROP. I like the cannons. The Eagle standing on the bundle of sticks is also an American symbol. ROP blades are usually curved. I am also a fan of the Crusader garb also.
WHAT!! No rainbow??
Those ain’t machetes. Those be scimitars.
A picture of Obama bending over on a rainbow background would have been more appropriate.
Damn, I just cannot wait until we have a President (and thus a military leadership) that actually loves this country and is proud of it, warts and all.
Ouch!!!
I’d refuse to wear that one
I called the institute of Heraldry yesterday. They stated that the patch was designed by a member of the US training task force and request its approval, which TIOH did. It was NOT designed by TIOH, but they did ‘make it official.’
Scimitars
Not machetes
Cause this Mamaluke is the standard dress sword for USMC officers and has been since 1826.
Moslems have been using scimitars to bring peace and democracy for centuries! Look at the result!
Our military leadership is so twisted.
As the soldier once said, “Now, THAT’S a sword!”
Sorry.....whatever it is, it’s NOT AMERICAN!!! WE DON”T USE SCIMITARS!!!!
The name “Mameluke” is not coincidental.

And at any rate, what is on that patch is not your typical western sabre. Check out the Moorish sword here, and see if it doesn’t bear a striking resemblace to the patch:

If they wanted a USMC Mameluke, they would have drawn one.
I was actually referring to the Muslim Brotherhood design.
Ah, I see.
The Islamic logo has swords that are closer in style to our sabres. If they had gone with those (as in some of the other logos folks posted) and made it red white and blue I doubt anyone would have noticed.
So why this weird “Moorish” sword?
