Lawmaker: Trey Gowdy to leave the House after 2016
Washington Examiner ^ | 09/30/2015 | PETE KASPEROWICZ

Rep. John Fleming, R-La., said Wednesday morning that Tea Party favorite Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., won't run for a fourth term, and instead plans to retire at the end of the current Congress to return to his home state.

"Trey wants to go back to South Carolina, and God bless him for that," Fleming said on C-SPAN. When asked if that's what Gowdy has told other Republicans, Fleming confirmed it.

"At the end of his term, yes," he said. "He plans to go back home, and he wants to finish his work on the Benghazi special committee. But he loves South Carolina and he loves his family, and he wants to go back and spend the rest of his life there."

"He'll be sorely missed," he added.

Not sure why this guy felt it was his place to announce Gowdy's retirement from the House (assuming it's true)

I see no reason why the next Constitutional conservative U.S. Attorney General cannot operate effectively from an office in Upstate South Carolina.

One can hope he made the decision to not run because he is going to chop off Cancklebeasts nuts next month. Which he knows will make him public enemy No. 1

One can dream

My suspicion is his conscience would not let him do what the party is insisting he do.

Three terms and done is what we all would hope any elected official would aspire to. Staying in office for multiple decades is what got this country into the mess we are in. Career politicians are the downfall of the US.

Thank you, Trey Gowdy, for your excellent service to our country. May you be blessed in all future endeavors.

He’s a good man, but I really respect this. We need more, not fewer, people staying for 2-3 terms then going home.

your hope is misplaced in Trey, as talented as he is. The fix has been in....House for 6 years to get vested - ie - government dole for life - and then cushy appointment at Justice or maybe the Courts rammed thru by Linda Graham.

Yeah, I was heartbroken to find this out.....but I heard it on good authority, VERY good authority - back in spring of 2014. And it’s played out just nicely.

I'll call your bet and raise it: there's no reason why every damned member of Congress can't serve from their districts. Hell a "Go To Meeting" account and a few thousand dollars worth of stuff from Wal Mart and it could happen.
