COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Rand Paul is now officially a candidate in South Carolina's presidential primary.
On Tuesday, Paul's wife, Kelley, stopped by South Carolina's Republican Party headquarters in Columbia to file her husband's papers to participate in the GOP nominating contest.
South Carolina is home to the first Republican presidential primary in the South.

He is so far to the back of the pack -— 2.4% -— he is behind Kasich, Christie & Huckabee in the (most recent) RCP average dated 9/17-9/24.
I assume unless one is demented, people with less than 3% are only trying to rise their profile & their money-making potential in the future.
I thought he was dropping out? Then again, that piece of info has been tracked back to a staffer from a rival campaign...
He might be banking on others not affording the sc primary fee hoping to scoop up voters as others drop out.
