I wonder if Waffle House requires police officers to leave their firearms outside the restaurant.

1) "No Guns" means "No Guns". I'm glad they don't make special exceptions for government employees. I'll bet they do.

No liberal would be caught dead at Waffle House. Only Starbucks for them.
Where did this take place? I’m disappointed because I have a soft spot for WH and always jump for joy traveling south when the first billboard pops up!

They didn’t make a special exception for this particular government employee.

Criminals have the right to choose between those establishments allowing guns and those that are gun free.

They sure can’t exclude based on race or sexual orientation.
To: NorthMountain
Do you think they make police officers leave their sidearms in the patrol car?

And yet it is private property and an owner, in theory, has a right to exclude people he wants from his property.(Yes, yes I know this right of exclusion has been eroded years ago.) At any rate we have an apparent conflict between two rights; i.e. Right to Carry, and private property with its right to exclude. You are correct and I support the owners right to do this though I abhor his actions.
All gun owners also have the right to never, ever, under any circumstances give this fool one penny of patronage.
When I am in a restaurant and other patrons are armed as I , I feel safe!!!!!!

There is no “right to carry” there is a right to posses fire arms and a law via the BOR that prohibits Congress from limiting that right. Then we have private property which is also a right. What’s the conflict? Your right to bear arms is in no way impeded by a business owner denying you entry unless somehow eating at a Waffle house is a constitutionally protected activity.
For me, I do not shop or dine were firearms are prohibited. And I fully support the owners free expression of their idiotic beliefs.

The response I have for these people these days is one of the following:
1). “Are you doing this because I am gay?”
2) “Are you doing this because I’m transgender ?”
This flips the scales in my favor. Today you do not have to really be either you just have to identify that way at that moment. It really stops them in their tracks. I’m white and if I thought I could do it I would add the “Are you doing yhis because I’m a transgender black homosexual?” That’s like winning the trifecta at the Kentucky derby.

Hate to say it (some FReepers go ballistic), but boycott sounds in order.. and a few letters to the establishment as to why... Hopefully they will change the policy...

And yet it is private property and an owner, in theory, has a right to exclude people he wants from his property. Would that be similar to the baker and florist who attempted to exclude queer cake and flower consumers?

The Waffle Houses in my state allow concealed carry. In fact, an armed robber got his face shot off by a CC customer. The crook got bullets with his waffles, and didn’t even leave a tip. The County Sheriff tagged it a good kill.
To: Slings and Arrows
Waffle House, not Huddle House. Thanks, I am forever getting those two mixed up for some reason. It doesn't help that they are right across the street from each other here and a Waffle King not far away.
