How to watch a total eclipse of the moon (Tonight's Blood Moon, and in a few minutes, it starts )

Be sure you know the right date and time of the eclipse.
For example, the eclipse of September 27-28, 2015 begins at 1:07 UTC.
For us in North America, that is 9:07 p.m.. EDT on September 27, 2015.
Be careful. Watch the times.
Note that the times are often given in what is called Universal Time, or UTC.
Heres how to translate Universal Time to your local time zone.

Great view for us. Our back porch faces east and Moon is on its way up. No clouds.... and it is starting to eclipse. But, its not bloody like Megyn yet...

My word, you certainly are staying up late tonight; you a night owl or just a fan of eclipses? :-)

Here in Fairfield County, CT, you can see the entire left side of the moon eaten away. Probably 1/4 of the face of the moon completely eaten already.
One can imagine how how our primitive ancestors would react to such a spectacle. Or how they would worship the man who could predict it.
Just a few high thin clouds scudding across the sky. Almost perfect viewing conditions. For a change. I think I missed the last several lunar eclipses due to cloud cover.
Also, the moonrise itself was pretty spectacular. One of the brightest moonrises I ever saw.

It's been clear every single day for months.... but not today!
Darn it! So overcast that I won't be able to see a thing! So disappointed!

Yes that’s what they say. I’m determined to watch this thing turn red, even though it’ll be freaky.

It’ll be more of a sickly brownish-orange with red around the edges, if past experience is any guide.

You can have some of ours, trees are starting to topple due to saturated ground, no wind, just falling over. Had to detour coming home this evening due to an oak fallen across the road.
