DONALD AMONGST THE EGGHEADS
The American Spectator ^ | September 23,2015 | R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr.

Posted on 09/23/2015 8:53:37 PM PDT by Hojczyk

Hold on to your toupees, the conservative intellectuals are in a stew.

Trump’s rambunctious presence in the race is responsible for a miracle. The conservative intellectuals have finally thrown in with the left intellectuals. Both disrelish Trump, and, if truth be known, they are not very happy with Carson or Fiorina, who with Trump account for over 50 percent of the Republican vote. A year ago these three would be sitting in the politicians’ audience.

How is it that Trump anticipates the issues better than the establishment politicians? Well, despite his fortune, Trump is a regular American. I think a lot of Americans recognize this. The best of America is like Trump, optimistic, self-confident, energetic, can-do, and they enjoy a good laugh. Trump has made running for political office fun again, much as Ronald Reagan made running for office fun again after the lugubrious Jimmy Carter. Reagan spoke of “Morning in America.” Trump has trademarked “Make America Great Again.”

How is Trump going to do when the voting begins? I can see him getting at a minimum 25 percent of the vote going into the convention, maybe more. It depends on his ability to develop an organization to get out the vote, his continued anticipation of issues, and his continued ability to address them boldly. If he succeeds, as I think he will, he will have a strong hand to play in the convention. I suspect his strongest opponent will be Jeb Bush, but Carson and Fiorina will also be candidates to reckon with. Then the players will sit down and cut a deal, but remember they will be dealing with the billionaire who wrote The Art of the Deal. I am looking forward to an exciting summer in 2016.

I see entrenched ... I see mediocre... I see narcissists... Can anyone point out an 'Establishment Intellectual'... of either party?

It is incorrect to say the GOPe does not like Carly. She is plenty liberal enough for them. She has a few conservative issues, like abortion.

They do hate Trump, Carson and Cruz. Anyone else is good. Jeb is best.

conservative intellectuals?

I guess he is being sarcastic. Whom he is speaking of are neither conservative or intellectual. They're political hacks, plain & simple.

I recently watched a clip from an inteview Oprah did with Trump in 1990 in which he talked about possible Presidential aspirations. His comments were almost exactly the same as what he says today. This is a man who has observed this nation going down the wrong track for 25 years, realized that the beliefs and values he held and lived by were still the right and correct ones, and stepped up to the plate. Trump is not one to pick battles he cannot win, and he’s been thinking about this one for over 2 decades before he entered it.

To have one’s name put in nomination, he has to have the majority of delegates in 8 states. By March 15, 26 states plus Puerto Rico will have voted. Who besides Trump, at this point can make that requirement? Somebody may have one or two, but Trump will be the only one over the 8 delegation threshold as it stands now.

It’s why the donor class forced Walker out (probably threatening to not fund his Wisconsin reelection if he lost the prez bid). They know the only way they can win is to force a lot of RINOs out and try to consolidate the vote around one of them. They’re apoplectic over this, especially since they don’t quite know which one to go with. They’re basically going to Rubio by default because he polls the least negative of all of their side.

They’re totally panicked because Jeb’s poll numbers have cratered, the internals are probably even worse, and he has absolutely no realistic pathway out of the collapsing sinkhole despite his millions. That’s why Rubio has been picked to be the new standard-bearer. The GOPe is absolutely FURIOUS that Trump has all but officially neutered Jeb beyond repair and that’s why Fox has unloaded on Trump this week like never before.

Ed Henry may be further back in the press room than he is now in a Trump presidency, and it isn’t his fault

Puerto Rico, New Mexico, Guam, Oregon, Massachusetts, Rhode Island... Remember Jebbby my leave and his support will go to Rubio what little is left along with Christie and Linseed. All small amounts, but they could add just enough. Trump as things stand now and even with other dropouts will still be ahead.

I believe one of Bonzo's descendents ( Bedtime for Bonzo: the Ronald Reagan film) would qualify as the greatest establishment intellectual of either party!
