It seems like people just aren't watching TV anymore.
A report from Ad Age on Wednesday paints a bleak picture of Tuesday's overnight TV ratings, which come during one of the industry's most important weeks of the year as new shows are rolled out on the major networks.
Ad Age, citing figures from Nielsen, reported that every returning drama that aired Tuesday night saw viewers decline by double digits while debuts were a "mixed bag."
But aside from the performance of individual shows, the number of people using TV in the coveted 18-to-49 demographic was down 8% against the same time last year, and for the first two nights this week usage is off 10%.
Ad Age also noted that among millennial consumers (18-to-24-year-olds), viewing is down 20% against last year, with 24% fewer men in this age group watching TV. The number of 18-to-34-year-old men watching TV is down 18% compared to the same period last year.
Over the summer, there was a broad concern regarding cable companies and a loss of subscribers to services like Netflix and Hulu.
And a report from Wall Street analysts over the summer said TV networks were stuffing their airwaves with commercials in an attempt to prop up revenue. That report said ratings were down 9% over the prior year through July with ad loads correspondingly increasing by 10%.

I don't watch TV anymore either. I even watch football games on the internet.
"I threw my TV away _______ years ago!"
Post.
ME TOO!
There is an episode of Star Trek where the Enterprise goes back in a time warp to the year 1968 and ends up beaming aboard a fighter pilot from that era.
He asks Mr. Spock what they have on television in the future, and Spock replies “that particular form of entertainment did not survive much beyond the start of the 21st. Century.
I’m one of the no TV people. There are just so many better things to do with my time. If I want or need some sort of video entertainment I have Netflix.
The internet/streaming is the future, and television broadcasters need to get that through their thick skulls.
Personally, we still watch television, but there is getting less and less that’s appealing to watch. So much of it is pushing leftist agendas and themes. As we know at FR, that the news outlet is the most fraught with liberal dogma.
Hardly ever watch TV now. I watch Netflix if I have some down time and FOX is hardly ever on my radar now due tot hem stumping for Rommey, then the hit job by Megyn Kelly on Trump and their libertarians views
BTW, Brian Williams is covering the Pope on PSMNBC...LOL.
same here, down time is mostly Netflix now, to hell with the TV. I;ts mostly all smut, homo crap etc.
I have almost all the episodes. Would you know which one that is? Roddenberry’s a genius.
.
This is a good thing.
Also, people are SICK of males being portrayed as WEAK and having female penises shoved down their throats in just about EVERY show on TV.
I watch YouTbe and netflix, have not had cable in over 10 years.
I think installing a TV in every bedroom did more damage. Kind of promotes isolation.
.
And remember when Disneyland was conservative?
.
But will they change? Will they create programs that don’t relentlessly mock America, traditional values and Christianity? Will they offer more than token wholesome shows? Will they stop infesting their shows with extreme Liberal propaganda? No. So the decline will continue.
You do realize that netflix is owned and operated by libs who are ardent obama worshippers. I know as i deal with these clowns every week.
Most of the shows I produce are on specialty cable so we know our demos very well and losses are manageable.
Watched about 5 minutes of NCIS New Orleans last night. The theme of the program was something about rightt wing militia groups blah, blah, blah. Clicked it off. NCIS was decent, otherwise those shows are the only TV I’ve watched in 3-4, months.
TV has become a liberal propaganda tool on EVERY stinking show.
