Ta-Nehisi Coates can be identified in many ways: as a national correspondent for The Atlantic, as an author and, as of this month, as a nominee for the National Book Awards nonfiction prize. But Mr. Coates also has a not-so-secret identity, as evidenced by some of his Atlantic blog posts and his Twitter feed: Marvel Comics superfan.
So it seems only natural that Marvel has asked Mr. Coates to take on a new Black Panther series set to begin next spring. Writing for that comics publisher is a childhood dream that, despite the seeming incongruity, came about thanks to his day job. The Atlantic is a pretty diverse place in terms of interest, but there are no comics nerds, besides himself, Mr. Coates said in an interview.

Coates, for those who haven't followed his escapades, is a whiny and pretentious "black intellectual" who writes at the Atlantic. His stuff is insufferable mixture of overblown prose, race-baiting and self-pity. In Coates' world the white man is always out to get him, and will, even as white progressives fall all over themselves to praise his every verbose and illogical sentence. Think of 0bama but with an even bigger racial chip on his should and less self-awareness: that's Coates.
The more you hate Whitey, the more you are worshipped by the left.
Coates has committed many, many hate crimes against my people in the form of his hateful rhetoric that emboldens others to assault, rape, murder, and otherwise harm my people.
And yet he walks free. Why is that?
My people cry out for justice!
Because there isn’t enough Black racist hate out there targeted to children.
I’ll be emailing Marvel. It wont do anything but i’ll get to unleash the obscenities I cant use on this board :)
and whitey will still go see their movies and make them rich.
Maybe they’ll make a comic book about the Clan?
jerks.
It’s official, the comics no longer be entertainment, but lessons in Political Correctness. That already happened with the Archie comics, when Archie was shot to death by a Tea Party member while protecting his gay friend at a rally for gun control. Seriously, I’m not making this up. The left is ruining everything it touches.
Please update me next spring on sales of Mr. Coates Black Panther comics.
This is a protection racket. If they hire people such as this, they get “insurance” against future problems as well as future social bonus points from their peer groups of left wing urban dwellers.
Good thing the left didn’t win on their “equal time” in the media nonsense or Marvel would have to come out with a KKK comic book.

That is pretty messed up. The silent majority no more!!!!
Coates is a great writer, but he is very mixed up logically and seems to have only contempt for just about everyone, white and black.
He knows it’s not for the militant commie backed trouble makers and it’s for the comic book right?
shot to death by a Tea Party member —They said it was a Tea Party member? Seriously? Cause Marvel pulled this shit in a Captain America book.
It has been that way since the seventies. Marvel led the way with evil corporations like Roxxon Oil, then introduced the first openly gay character Northstar. DC, not to be left out tackled social justice in Green Lantern / Green Arrow.
Archie was the final holdout in the Comic industry. It is hard to get a job in comics if you don’t tow the leftist line. Just ask Orson Scott Card who was fired From writing Superman before he started because he didn’t agree with gay marriage.
Orson Scott Card is good writer- I enjoy his work.
