Carson was right the first time. Islam is incompatible with freedom and democracy. Muslims lie to infidels in accordance with their religious teachings. Carson will only weaken himself by now qualifying his statement.

Honestly, with all the evil crap that Islam has perpetrated, I don’t see how any reasonable person can embrace the religion. As such, I don’t think a Muslim belongs in the Whitehouse any more than I think a NAZI belongs in the Whitehouse. This is a bunch of PC BS.
This is a rather pointless backtrack. He said faith is important, but he would support someone who didn’t take their faith seriously.

There is no religious test. (We can discover what the Founders meant by this term, but the simple truth is that the people are free to choose whom they wish to govern.)
We should not have men who are compromised by allegiance to non-Christian faith systems and who will not honor their oath of office and pervert the language of the Constitution. We can exercise sound judgement and see that someone who is a “true believer” in a system which denies our cherished principals is totally unqualified for any office. (Carson started to compromise when he conceaded that a Muslim could be elected to inferior offices. This is the seed of his undoing).
Trump wouldn’t try to nuance the argument. He’d point out the simple truth — they behead people, crucify people, rape boys, etc. That’s why the media is having a fit. He doesn’t cut and run. He doubles down and comes right back at them with the undeniable truth. They’ve got nowhere to go, except to hope for his demise. (Trump had better watch his back and hire adequate physical security.)
Someone needs to inform Dr. Carson that lying is a perfectly allowable Muslim practice, especially if it furthers the cause of Islam. So renouncing Sharia is meaningless. Just like Abedin allowed to have a Jewish baby. And you gotta wonder, where will that baby end up?
