He probably had a bad day with his consultants when he made the original statement - likely from his truefelt heart. However, his consultants have now had the time to show their lack of willingness to fight back about insane PC and have convinced him he has to fix this somehow. This is their brilliant move.

I don’t see this as a backtrack. Carson is brilliantly getting to the heart of the matter. The indisputable fact here is that no Muslim can honestly take the oath of office for the Presidency without renouncing Sharia Law. You can’t swear to uphold the constitution while at the same time wanting to impose an Islamaic theocracy.
This isn’t to say that a Muslim might not have already dishonestly taken that oath two times.
