Yes, absolutely. But that doesn’t describe the situation we are talking about. The U.S. is not claiming the international waters of the Bering Sea as its territorial waters. China however, is claiming the international waters of the South China Sea as its territorial waters. The moral equivalence argument does not work here.

If the ChiComm “warships” are anything like the Chinese socket set I bought years ago, I expect the Chinese ape “Navy” to be on the bottom of the ocean.

Just loved the sockets with plus or minus one-quarter inch tolerances. And the socket wrench? It fell apart and went BOIIING!!! while removing it from the case.
