I’m sure there were those who wanted to use the data collected by the Japanese during WWII as they used vivisection on conscious prisoners, immersed people in icy water, injected them with diseases, and starved them to death all in the name of research. For the "good" doctor to completely fail to realize this says a tremendous amount about his character and morals.

Do good Catholics eat meat that has been sacrificed to idols or pagan gods? Of course not, for the Bible says we should not. But what if we don’t know whether the meat has been sacrificed or not? The Bible says to eat with a clear conscience. For all you know, that burger you ate at McDonald’s was sacrificed to idols but you weren’t aware of it so you should not be judged.
In the same way, a doctor or a researcher who does not know where the fetal tissue came from shouldn’t need to ask before he chooses to do his work. He should work with a clear conscience if he is not aware. If he knows the tissue came from aborted fetuses, he is within his rights to object and refuse to do his work but one who does not know should not be compelled to ask before proceeding to work.
Frankly, I would find the support for RU-486 more troubling but that would need to be examined in context of what was said and not distorted. It would also matter how long ago this was said and whether his views have changed over time.
He will not be asked about this at the “debate.”
