Kim Davis Mocked by 'Marriage' Billboard in Her Hometown
NBC News ^ | 09/13/2015 | by ELISHA FIELDSTADT

The Kentucky clerk who was jailed after refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples hasn't exactly gotten the warmest welcome in her hometown after her release.

A billboard defending gay marriage, towering high above a Rowan County road, is directed specifically at Kim Davis.

Planting Peace, the nonprofit humanitarian organization that paid for the billboard, said in a statement that the "intent of the billboard is to expose this narrow interpretation by Davis and others that they use to defend their discrimination against the LGBTQ community."

"Dear Kim Davis, the fact that you can't sell your daughter for three goats and a cow means we've already redefined marriage," the billboard reads.

The message appears to refer to a Bible scripture that says women can be sold into marriage as slaves. Planting Peace said they are pointing out that "a substantial number of zealots" cite their religion as a reason for disagreeing with gay marriage while ignoring other parts of the Bible that many consider equally antiquated.

Can we please know what this billboard means? LGBT folks forbid us from trading animals for people? What is that supposed to mean?

I thought the trading of animals for people was part of Middle Eastern civilization. Did not know it was going on in the U.S.

It’s a debating technique the left uses, implying if you believe one thing the Bible says you have to believe EVERYTHING it says. Google “Letter to Dr. Laura” for examples.

Dehumanizing those that disagree with their narrow view is not meeting hate with compassion. It is just dehumanizing people that disagree.

Wait a minute: The fact that you can't sell your daughter for three goats and a cow means we've already REDEFINED MARRIAGE evidences a redefinition of marriage?

The price of a woman given in marriage, as defined in some foreign cultures, does not affect the definition of marriage which, by the way, is a divine institution.

Memo to Planting Peace: Allow me to plant the idea of ya'll re-familiarizing yourselves with logic, reality, and non sequiturs; your billboard unquestionably indicates that would be a good idea.

Another reason why non-Jews should abandon chrstianity and accept the Noachide Laws: all these "antiquated" laws are still in force!

That would stop the charges of "hypocrisy" right there.

The flaw in the argument is more fundamental. Rules and customs about goats and such are not the definition of marriage on any view. The argument is not remotely reason based, its a poor rationalization of the bigotry of the ones making the argument made up to appear like a reasoned argument.

Do not hold your breath. I fear they have no genuine interest in sound logic or reality. Its just about backing the latest political fad and dehumanizing those that don't.

The billboard clearly supports the Man/Woman marriage principle. The “selling” and “age” details are refinements of civility, not re-definitions.

The whole objective “gay marriage” is to attack Christianity and destroy traditional, sacred marriage.

If marriage can be redefined willy-nilly to mean anything, then it means nothing.

Save the ammo. Get a seat in a tree stand or high cliff and watch them hunt each other. Feral (of any color) on Beta. Because the Feral libs will prey on them in far worse ways than we would. Which is poetic justice.

They will enslave them, use them as sex slaves and then kill them openly when they no longer satisfy.

Sell tickets.

It also happened in parts of Asia and Africa as well. It sounds like a Fallacy with a capital F if I ever read one.

Kim is the wrong Joan of Arc for those of us totally against humans of the same sex getting married!

She has been married four times and has had two children out of wedlock. She stated that she’s an ‘Apostolic Christian’ whatever that is.

Lay aside the discussion about which is worse: sodomy or the evils of divorce and bearing children out of wedlock.

Kim and the homos are perfect examples of the decline of morality and the rise of hypocrisy all rolled up into one questionable package. It’s difficult to take this woman seriously for a number of reasons, but most especially because her personal life is quite obviously a mess.

RE: She has been married four times and has had two children out of wedlock.

Well in that case then, St. Paul is the wrong man to be apostle because he persecuted the church and led the stoning to death of Stephen.

RE: She stated that she’s an ‘Apostolic Christian’ whatever that is.

The Apostolic Christian Church (ACC) is a religious body in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Japan.

SOURCE:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostolic_Christian_Church

The origins of the Apostolic Christian Church are found in the conversion experience of Samuel Heinrich Froehlich (1803–57) of Switzerland.

Froehlich was baptized in 1832 and soon founded the Evangelical Baptist Church. The first American church was formed in Lewis County, New York in 1847 by Benedict Weyeneth (1819–87), who had been sent by Froehlich at the request of Joseph Virkler, a Lewis County minister in an Alsatian Amish-Mennonite church.

In 1848 a church was formed in Sardis, Ohio. The church experienced primary growth in the midwest, where many congregations gained membership from local Amish and Mennonite churches. Though sometimes referred to as the New Amish, these believers generally called themselves Evangelical Baptist. In 1917, the church adopted a uniform name: Apostolic Christian Church.
