No 'Mainstream' Air Time for Mark Levin

Mark Levin's new book "Plunder and Deceit" has been number one on the New York Times bestseller list for five weeks in a row. Like with his other best-sellers, no liberal journalist will read it, no liberal newspaper will review it, and no liberal network would imagine calling up Levin for an interview. They are too busy advocating tolerance and diversity.

Why doesn't Mark Levin deserve a turn on CBS's "60 Minutes"? Why can't the conservative taxpayers be granted a forum for Levin or "Charlie Rose" on PBS or on NPR's "All Things Considered"? In short, why not a slice of Levin in all of the places where leftists like Paul Krugman and Tom Friedman are treated like the greatest minds of our time?

Arrogant liberal journalists naturally assume that conservative talk radio only succeeds in making Americans dumber. They reach this conclusion by avoiding conservative talk radio entirely.

But the overwhelming majority would never dare appear on one of these shows and debate the conservative host. If one of them entered the ring with Mark Levin, they'd invoke the "mercy rule" before the first commercial break.

In recent years, Levin has matched a brainy talk show with a series of brilliant political books. The latest, from the subtitle, is about "Big Government's Exploitation of Young People and the Future."

Levin argues that the current ruling generation of statists -- elected in part by millennial voters -- are unraveling American civil society by undermining the country's constitutional values and her economic footing. The central question of our time may be whether today's young people still desire the founding vision of America or whether we face a terminal moral and economic decline.

The book begins with a discussion about the massive growth in the national debt and our entitlement programs, and then tackles education, immigration, the minimum wage, and national security.

The chapter on the environment provides a look at the statist ideologies that the liberal media downplay so deliberately, especially when their radical underbelly is exposed, and ignore completely when their theories are proven false. Levin notes that in July 2014, more than a hundred radical green groups signed an anti-capitalist document called the Margarita Declaration. "The climate crisis is the result of unsustainable development systems, incompatible with the happiness of the people. ... The structural causes of climate change are linked to the current capitalist hegemonic system. Fighting the climate change involves changing the system."

Did anyone hear about that on the news?

The left pushes against economic freedom with dire prognostications of planetary doom. Levin cites Dr. Mark Perry, an economics professor at University of Michigan and a scholar for the American Enterprise Institute, who made a list of 18 "spectacularly wrong apocalyptic predictions" made by eco-leftists around the first Earth Day.

Did you hear about that?

In January 1970, Life magazine reported, "Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support ... the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution ... by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half."

Our media are never embarrassed by these spectacularly failed predictions. Levin could write an entire book on this alone. To promote the leftist agenda, they ignore them and create an entirely new set of dire predictions.

Let us never forget The Washington Post's definition of conservatives -- the "poor, uneducated, and easy-to-command" types. That condescending statement was made 22 years ago. Nothing's changed.

And the left will never dare debate Mark Levin.

They are too busy fawning over Steven Colbert and wondering what John Stewart will do next.

Yeah, unlike illegal aliens and Muslim refugees.

They are not in Levin’s league, how would you expect them to be able to even sit in the same room with Levin? His intellect and patriotism would force them to come face to face with there utter incompetence and Marxism.

When Trump is elected President, one of the first things he should do is take away ownership of the American Broadcasting Company from Disney and reassign conservative ownership. In war, what is one of the first things that the side victorious does is seize the radio and television stations.

I can assure these are not the brightest bulbs on the block.

When Mr. Trump is sworn in to the Presidency, one of the first things that he should do is take away ownership of the AMERICAN Broadcasting Company from Disney and assign a conservative owner so that conservative view point can then be televised.

The takeover would be based on a failure to serve the public. NBC, PBS and CBS can still bring their left-wing bias, but now we would have the means to help expose the corruption.

When in war, one of the things that the side victorious does is seize the radio and television stations in order to begin broadcasting favorably of their side.

The MSM is very cautious with Mark Levin. He says the most interesting, enlightening and occasionally the most outrageous things. Yet they never quote him. WHY? Because he has a way of educating people in a way that can change their positions. They hope to keep the masses unaware of him, hoping the remain uninformed.

To be fair, given the trendline of the time, I don’t think that was all that far off. But the trendline changed, in part due to economics (waste is...wasteful) and the EPA, which, at the time, actually did some good. Some people apparently don’t remember rivers that caught on fire and lakes covered with dead, three-eyed fish, or the piece of crap cars that got 8 mpg with the wind in their favor.

That era is over. But the EPA lives on, bigger than ever, regulating cow flatulence and backyard barbecues.

To those who don’t believe in immortality, take a look at governmental agencies like the EPA.

Cruz is an exceptional debater. But I think no one is better than Mark Levin when it comes down to it. Mark has forgotten more than the Senate and House members will ever know.

The leftist news outlets should be ashamed they never interview him. They would learn something valuable. How to think.

I wish Levin would do some debates with a liberal “scholar”...like Buckley and Galbraith used to do.

Part of our dilemma as a nation is the left and even some on the right are consumed with such vitriol and disdain for the other side that ideas aren’t discussed nor views exchanged. Proper debate forces us to better understand our beliefs and makes us better informed rather than simple gotcha soundbites.

The only REAL debate I’ve seen in years was when Cheney and Lieberman sat down together at a table for the VP debate. They were so respectful of one another, their ideas were very well articulated, they did nothing to demean each other. They were friendly..gentlemen.. and I learned a lot from listening.

Civilized. So quaint.

Actually, by 1970, with positive crankcase ventilation being standard on automobiles for a decade, and older vehicles dwindling through attrition, air pollution in the United States was set to head downwards even without the EPA.

Gingrich used to do this, he did it several times during his "exile" years. He would travel with a leftist politician, who was also hawking a book, and they would debate. Gingrich knew his opponent's book inside and out, would compliment him all the way through, and use his opponent's own words to prove Gingrich's point. And did it with a smile and a compliment. It was masterful, really.

When he ran for president and wasn't getting enough attention during the official debates, he had private debates between himself and a couple of the other candidates. Again, they were very interesting, very informative, Gingrich and his opposite number went back and forth building on one another's points. Very well done. Gingrich has the ability to make his opponent look good and still defeat him with a smile.

I know he has baggage, but he is one of a kind.

That alone didn’t do much. For example, just think how stupid Democrats would be now had unleaded gasoline not been introduced.

I think there are numerous leftist ideologues who deliberately refuse to read conservative literature for one main reason: they're terrified that all their cherished beliefs would get demolished. So they resort to pigeonholing conservatives as "haters" "bigots" "homophobes" etc.

Going through life with your fingers in your ears and your eyes shuts yelling nnnnnnaaaaaaa is not the best way to go through life.
