Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) is having a bad week. First, he is body-blocked from getting on camera in Mike Huckabee’s media circus with Kim Davis. Then he gets upstaged by Donald Trump at a purported Iran rally that Trump converted into a campaign event. It is a sad state of affairs for a media hog like Cruz when he gets overshadowed by even hoggier opponents.
How long will Cruz play Robin to Trump’s Batman? It is not fun to be Ed McMahon when Mike Huckabee sits in the host chair. Cruz would like to think of himself as the smartest man in every room, but his tactics depend on an ignorant audience. The audience has to believe, for example, that a clerk is free to disregard the law or that GOP leaders have a magic bullet to stop the Iran deal or that it is possible to repeal Obamacare during President Obama’s term of office or that the Islamic State can be defeated by dropping lots and lots of bombs (contrary to every military analysis and the history of asymmetrical warfare). He is not a smart man making sophisticated arguments to well-informed admirers; he’s a slick salesman selling snake oil to people he bets are unsophisticated rubes.
Long ago, reflective Republicans were on to Cruz’s act. They realized his arguments were specious and self-serving and his pretense of legal sophistication was a smokescreen to obscure crude appeals to anger, frustration and victimhood. He has thereby limited himself to the very sort of supporters who don’t bother to reflect on the merits of the arguments and who live within the right-wing bubble. In other words, he was limited to the voters ripe for Trump’s and Huckabee’s picking.

From the self-identified “NeoConservative” at the Washington Post. The only people that use ‘neoconservative’ are those closet liberals and pundits who want a code-epithet for conservatives. Simply said, there are NO conservatives that work for Washington Post or the New York Times.
Actually, Ted did remarkably well. He showed Huckleberry is a Huckster. And he showed the Trump followers that he is a potential alternative.

I’ve heard Jennifer Rubin interviewed a time or two. She pops up on a radio show I listen to.
She is a rah-rah Republican. She is not a conservative.
I don’t think Cruz was upstaged by The Donald at all. I suppose that the two already agreed Donald was to be the star of this rally, but it seems to me the Senator more than held his own.
Rubin is a witch.
It steams me that Jen is a member of my gender. It’s embarrassing. No substantive thought, no foresight.
Well, her ATTEMPTS to discredit Cruz are really juvenile.
Ted invited Trump expressing so the press would show up and pay attention to the public’s disgust with the current admin, and their anger at giving our worst enemy - nuclear bomb technology.
I even heard Ted give a speech saying that Trump was invited on purpose.
Evidently, our “reporterette” didn’t have the where with all to listen to what Cruz had to say; prior to yesterday.
There’s a few here who adore her for her swats at Trump - stupid is as stupid does.....
So this alleged writer thinks Cruz’s acts of class and dignity this week somehow make him a lesser man?
I pity his friends and family.

And Trump and Cruz do not have to go after each other on things they agree on.
They have this idea that they can't get rid of Trump so everyone is going to pay, and the GOPee is in on it...
First Bush, then Carson, and Carly, and Perry, and on and on and on....if these candidates don't say or do what the media wants or the talking heads want, they change a word here or there to make it sound like something different...
Cruz INVITED Trump to his rally....CRUZ was already there to see the Davis lady before Huckster even got there that day, and yes, Cruz wasn't allowed to be part of it...to bad because it made Huck look bad, but that isn't how the media and talking heads are reporting it is it??? NO
