The Republican National Committee is set to announce Tuesday a new digital short series featuring interviews with Republican presidential candidates in a new push for party unity.
The interviews, which are about eight minutes in length each, currently feature nine members of the field: Jeb Bush, Sen. Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Mike Huckabee, George Pataki, Rick Perry, Jim Gilmore, and Mark Everson.
During the sit down discussions, the candidates are asked a set of standard questions aimed at helping voters decide the nominee, including why they are running in 2016 and the high-priority items on their agenda.
"The Republican Party has the most diverse and accomplished field of candidates in our country's history," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. "The In-Focus series provides our candidates with an unfiltered platform to get their message out and our voters with a one-stop shop to learn about the Republican field."
While only nine candidates have sat down for interviews, more candidate interviews are expected to be released in the near future. According to the RNC, every candidate has been offered the chance to sit down for the series.
Former journalist Tara Wall, who currently serves as a senior strategist for the RNC, conducted the interviews for the series.
But no video on the front runner, Trump?
Looks like it will be a regular RINO fest...
Not a bad idea at a glance but I think it would be best if the questions came from conservatives.
I know I’ve got one question I want all the candidates to answer. Its a rhetorical but important to me.
“If you could be elected to hold dictatorial powers, would you accept the job? Why or why not?”
Mark Everson?
W’s old IRS commissioner hasn’t even been on the radar. The ultimate vanity run, he left the Red Cross in scandal, and who wants their tax collector as president?
Dear RNC,
Would this NOT have been an idea that SHOULD HAVE been enacted BEFORE the first debate?
As a thinking, watching, examining, and questioning American, what possibly is there left, for you to attempt to inform me, that i cannot, or have not, discovered and deduced, on my own?
So I’m guessing that Trump’s invitation has been held up until the signature on his loyalty pledge to the GOP has been verified?
Maybe he already got it and it was filed with the donation request letter from CFG?
They want to push their BS candidates. I would rather watch shootin’s and killins’ on ID.
No Trump video, eh? Go away, GOPe.
Oh, and only so big and accomplished a field because theGOPe has had such luck planting fringe candidates to split the conservative/base vote.
Cruz? A RINO?
Oh Goodie, now we get to hear Donald Trump flesh out some of his plans and maybe a glimpse into his vision of This country’s future.
But wait! Trump, the frontrunner by leaps and bounds is nowhere on the RNC campaign horizon. But rest easy all you little Republicrats that list of interviews does include the “serious” candidates. “George Pataki, Rick Perry, Jim Gilmore, and Mark Everson.”
and Mark Everson!!!!!!!!!
and Mark Everson??????????
Bush can always market his 8-minute segment as an insomnia sleep-aid.
A false equalizer. Look quick; this is the one and only year we will see this, as it is damage control for -this- race and no others.
Should we be surprised that Trump is not one of the featured candidates? What a joke.
Trying the unify the field against Trump now that he’s pledged to support the nominee.
And how much did these each cost? What a waste of money. I haven’t looked up Mark Emerson but who the heck is he? Does anyone know without having to look him up? Okay, now as I write this, someone said he was an IRS commissioner, like Lois Lerner? Wow! And he cause scandal elsewhere. Boy, a winner!
Trump should announce Governor Palin as his future replacement for RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. Let that stir them up.
Of course not. They cannot tolerate a winner.
