USA Today repeats what is a popular claim, that gun sales are driven by pushes for gun control. Even when a spike in sales occurs after a shooting, there are two possibilities: 1) that they are worried about more gun control or 2) that people are more convinced that they have to defend themselves. After all, surveys are showing that people are more likely to believe that owning a gun makes them safer (here and here). As we will show, a careful analysis of NICS background checks shows that it is very unlikely that there was an unusual change in August.

It’s worked on me once or twice.......
I’m beginning to wonder if the firearms manufactures aren’t “spurring” these calls for gun control. They make a killing every time the gun grabbers throw one of their tantrums.
LOL!
Me too.
Sorry to burst the author’s bubble, but it is clear that every time there is a push for more gun control, a buying panic ensues. Even as prices skyrocket due to the increased demand, the guns and ammunition fly off the shelves.
1 + 2 = Plenty-o-sales....
Last poll I heard there were 101 guns per 100 people in the USA
anytime the dictator types start strutting around huffing and puffing about more ‘gun control’ (instead of abolishing all the illegal controls already in place)... it causes more people to rush out and buy more firearms to defend themselves and their families and friends
it is both predictable and obvious
“....the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed...”
People who stocked up beginning with the Democrat/Clinton attacks in 1994, and in the years before that are just fine now. A lot could be bought for very little back then. And, it was readily available too.
I’m fairly certain that Barry O is the gun salesman of the century. Possibly even the millennium.
I have my eye on a Sig Sauer AR in 300 Blackout which I hope to buy next year, as I am over my limit for this year. But if there are movements towards gun control, make no mistake that I will immediately go out and get this gun (and probably others too).
I hate to spend the money now as I am in school for my MBA and thus have less to spend.
Gun nut and proud of it.
The Author refers to the Journalist Shooting in August, but ignores the Church Shooting in June.
But they are somewhat correct in that the runup in sales started in May.
So, did President Obama call for more gun control in May? He did so in early April. Then he doubled down in June, and in August. So the increases that we see in May, June, July, and August are easily attributable to the Administration’s continued attempts to impose more infringements on the Second Amendment.

It is up to about 1.35 or more per person now:
http://gunwatch.blogspot.com/2015/06/firearms-numbers-in-united-states-1945.html
16 million were added in 2013. Probably 15 million more in 2014. It looks like another 16 million in 2015. by the end of the year, we should be at 394 million guns in the U.S. Production started to drop a bit in 2014, but then the greatest firarm salesman of all time (Obama) stepped up to the bully pupit and started selling again.
75% of them made after 1965. 50 year old guns still have a century of life left in them.
Hopefully we can get that to 2 per person.

The NRA WROTE the 1968 gun control act!
They pushed it with all their might, and it redounded to more money coming their way!
.
No they did not. That is a myth. The probably had some say it it, perhaps they mitigated the worst parts of what was proposed, but they lobbied pretty hard against it.
Driven by increase of CRIME. The nightly news out of Memphis is a murder a day/night, sometimes more than 1. Then you factor in all the other DemonRAT controlled big cities where crime is high.
You can’t even go out to the mall in daylight any more with out the worry of being robbed, beat or killed or car jacked.
The safety aspect, it happened for Ferguson.
I know the feeling. I am right now bleeding for a LMT 308 DI on lay away
If anyone wrote the 1968 act outside of Dodd, it was the NAZIs. JPFO has done pretty good research to show that much of the 1968 act is a direct translation of NAZI gun control.
Dodd had people translate the NAZI act for him not too long before he introduced the bill.
