I know, I was just keying on what you highlighted.
When the sh*t hits the fan, there’s enough for everyone.
I don’t think one could say “not guilty” when to my knowledge there wasn’t even a trial. There has to have been charges brought on someone for that to happen.
There may have been an inquiry of Grand Jury or a panel to review, but I don’t recall a trial per se. In the end, the DA might have chosen not to indict any of them, but that still isn’t a trial
All I’m saying is that I don’t think this is by any stretch of the imagination finished.
Yes. And civil proceedings are quite different from criminal proceedings.
Well played, sir! Very funny.
I never said they were the same. All I said is that county will pay big time in the end.
“Even if the police had found evidence of a crime, none of it would be admissible in court, since it would have been obtained illegally.”
Sadly, that’s not always true. Mistakes of fact by the police won’t necessarily bar admissibility of evidence.
I know you didn’t. I was agreeing with you.
Okay...sorry....yes...they’re different...the burden of proof is less in a civil proceeding. Anyone who doubts it can ask OJ. :0)
+1
No matter what, kill the dog...Any dog...
I hear the dog called in the burglary call to get even with the owner for his recent neutering.
Just a rumor.
You misspelled the word “typical” at the beginning of your first sentence.
In 2015 America this is standard fare.
I’m just saying, if these three cops were white, you KNOW what the media would be doing with this story. It would turn into another Ferguson/Baltimore. Instead, it’s just a local story. That’s all I meant by it.
Lesson to be learned here:
1. Lock your doors
2. Install security hinges and a dead bolt ( two, preferably)
3. Post our street number in bold reflective numbers on l doors, front and back
4. Plan for home invasion scenarios, discuss regularly with all family members, including children
5. Probably re-think any plans on “clearing ad securing” your residence other than to roundup all occupants and move to the safe room
6. Never assume that you will be thought of as “the good guy” by anyone entering you home-act accordingly
The innocent homeowner has the right to defend himself against an unjust agressor (he has no way to know that it’s the police in the “wrong” house). If he takes that option, he will certainly be shot and killed. That action has to be prosecuted as murder. I will not retract that statement.
The immortal Harold Lloyd! With his black glasses he looks like a Nerd prototype but what an athlete! Many of his characters were motivated achievers undaunted by set-backs! We could use more of that today in both real life and the movies!
Overall, I like him better than Charlie Chaplin and a bit more than Buster Keaton. Thanks for the memory refresh.
No, the criminal activity occurred after the officers entered. So will one of them be charged with a crime for shooting the homeowner and his dog? Or will this just be chalked up to "one of those things" and we'll be encouraged to support our local police?
Unbelievable. This is the reason we have arrived at the anti police sentement of today. This is unacceptable.
