Well, it ain’t as if they believed in the real God anyway. So, it would be rather appropriate that they toss their hat in the ring for the Lord of the Flies.
Color me surprised....not.
I’m not surprised. I expect a conformation of doctrine to federal diktat, again, as well and an eventual full court press for the institution of harems.
Sleight and delightsome.
Interesting
They’ve been capitulating on the homo issue little by little for years, so I’m not at all surprised.
Sad part it, the SBC probably will do the same.
They will, until the chartering groups start getting sued themselves.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the decision Wednesday in a news release. Church leaders decided to stay with Boy Scouts after getting assurances they can appoint troop leaders according to their own religious and moral values.
Boy Scouts of America announced on July 28 it would lift its ban on gay adult leaders while allowing church-sponsored Scout units to continue excluding gay adults.
Duh! Gay marriage was imposed without a vote
by a Mormon bishop named Romney.
Seems to me that one can no longer support Friends of Scouting AND honestly pass a temple recommend interview.
(Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?)
Members should refuse to donate and participate citing this as their reason.
I can see where this is going; first a scout must achieve and demonstrate acceptance of others living the gay life style and receives a yellow ribbon, prior to entry in the eagle scout program he must demonstrate with his troupe leader he can perform as a homosexual, receives a bright pink ribbon making the eagle scout most qualified and eligible to attend military academy.
You only need look to recent past to see the immediate future.
This is not a surprise, is it? The country has been remade, and LDS leaders have helped. Harry Reid and Mitt Romney are just two that come to mind. Watch for gay weddings in the Mormon temple within a couple years.
Did anyone really think the Mormons were ever going to walk away from one of their biggest recruitment strategies/efforts?
By staying, they are helping to fund the evil. Nice job. But again, what do you expect from Mormons?
No surprise here. Mitt was advocating gays in the Boy Scouts when he sat on the board for the Boys Scouts. Now that he has seen his desire come to fruition, it was nothing for Bishop Romney to convince Mormon leadership.
From what I understand... They will continue “using” the boy scouts until they get their own program up & running. The boy scouts is deeply entrenched in the LDS church, being the “young men’s” program. So, in-order not to leave them without a program, they will continue.
But... ANYBODY who has paid ANY attention to the slippery slope of the gay agenda / boy scouts, knows what’s coming next. They just need a little time.
Just my thought.
Why would anyone be sprinted?
Everyone knows there aren’t any homosexual Mormons, anyhow! < /sarc >
One of their Bishops, who ran for president last time, signed onto the gay agenda. So, I am not surprised. They will have to have some boys raped before they figure out what the Boys Scouts figured out in the 80’s. Maybe the Bishops are pervs? I don’t know much about the social norms and history of that church.
SALT LAKE CITY
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued the following statement Wednesday from the Council of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles regarding the Churchs relationship with the Boy Scouts of America:
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints appreciates the positive contributions Scouting has made over the years to thousands of its young men and boys and to thousands of other youth. As leaders of the Church, we want the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to succeed in its historic mission to instill leadership skills and high moral standards in youth of all faiths and circumstances, thereby equipping them for greater success in life and valuable service to their country.
In the resolution adopted on July 27, 2015, and in subsequent verbal assurances to us, BSA has reiterated that it expects those who sponsor Scouting units (such as the Church) to appoint Scout leaders according to their religious and moral values in word and deed and who will best inculcate the organizations values through the Scouting program. At this time, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will go forward as a chartering organization of BSA, and as in the past, will appoint Scout leaders and volunteers who uphold and exemplify Church doctrine, values, and standards.
With equal concern for the substantial number of youth who live outside the United States and Canada, the Church will continue to evaluate and refine program options that better meet its global needs.
