The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the decision Wednesday in a news release. Church leaders decided to stay with Boy Scouts after getting assurances they can appoint troop leaders according to their own religious and moral values.
Boy Scouts of America announced on July 28 it would lift its ban on gay adult leaders while allowing church-sponsored Scout units to continue excluding gay adults.
The Human Rights Campaign spokeshole stated within hours of the BSA’s decision that the religious exemption undercut the entire decision. They were going to continue fighting it to get the exemption removed.
If successful, no Scouting unit or organization of any kind would be permitted to bar homosexuals from their group.
They are idiots if they think that agreement will hold? Where have they been? These agreements do not hold. They are temporary until they can push for what they really want: their children.
