Maybe watching these will shed more light.

Reagan’s 81 Address to the Nation
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8cF2S4QO_w

Reagan’s Socialized Medicine Speech
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYrlDlrLDSQ

Now you tell me, who sounds more like those speeches? Donald Trump or Ted Cruz?

This is about the closest thing I could find Reagan being like Trump on

Nobody will be the next Reagan.

But Trump can create his own legend.

As is often the case, Extremely Extreme Extremist comes up with an accurate description.

Well said.

it’s actually sort of insulting to make the comparison...

Well, part of the problem is that I didn't phrase my initial question the very best way. Kindly see my post #33.

Reminds me of Huey P. Long, and maybe Elmer Gantry. I am proud to stand with Ted Cruz

I'm with you, but I don't think he's that bad. Down deep, he seems to have a heart. It's his head I'm worried about. His thinking doesn't seem to be very deep.

I'll say one thing, I've never seen anything like this before.

Reagan was a lot easier to follow — when he gave a speech.

Trump speeches are given with no script and no notes, so no wonder they're rambling. But he makes his points, however disjointedly. Who else can even do that?

No. President Reagan put in endless hours and years studying policy and figuring things out. When Reagan said something, it was well-thought out and he had reasons behind his views. He was a very hard worker, and earned everything he had and thought and did.

Trump is no Reagan.

Sorry, you're right, I forgot. Yet another reason I'll never be hired as a webmaster.

Freeper JoeSeales posted a link to the entire speech. His post:

You have in front of you an individual that has obtained wealth consistently all the while paying to play with a corrupt legislative gauntlet who “demands” cash for projects and things to go forward....he is reaching his last 25 years on this beautiful earth and wants to purge the current “INEPT” and paid for politicians with persons that generate the best for our constitutional republic. Absurd as you have been told ....manufacturing brought back and tariff’s established AND TAKEN will correct the current debt we supposedly owe....along with a windfall of tax revenue upon the states and federal governments because of persons working above the boards......put your money back where it came from and you will see it again....not protectionism at all ...why does everyone want to sell here?.....why does everyone want to migrate here(granted not all) standard of living . Our poor are extremely wealthy in comparasion to other nations....KISS rule applies to every aspect of our economy keep it simple stupid elect an American who can’t be purchased.....this guy Trump knows a few people I think....Cruz would be great for the high thinkers but we have to undo the illegalities commited.....he has allegiance to our great republic which has blesed him and his family....

Reagan was much more tactful.

This is quite true. When Reagan was president I was also more tactful. I am not as tactful today as when Reagan was president because I am filled with piss and vinegar due to marixsts and progressives and my everyday speech is not politically correct. I never altered my speech to conform to political correctness.

Part of Trump's lack of tactfulness is due to the lens of political correctness that most people have these days.

I think if you ran Trump's speech from tonight's Alabama rally back in 1979 Trump would not come off as untactful since there wasn't political correctness in 1979. That said, Trump's speech would not go over as well as a Reagan speech in 1979. Different times. My greatest hope about Trump is to end political correctness by Trump being Trump. Then we can get back to statesmanship without language police. I am all for tactful and civilized language. It won't happen until our nation shares a common language where some class of people are not offended by everyday speech. Until that day comes I will intentionally piss off liberals with my speech until they get used to it.

Trump is certainly not lazy if that’s what you are implying. Reagan did not study policy like some wonk. Rather he applied his core beliefs which had turned solidly conservative by 1980. Trump is a bit behind on core beliefs but he has some that count: cutting corporate taxes and making government live within an actual budget. The main problem we have now is too much power concentrated in Washington. We won’t reduce that power by policy but strength of personality.

Careful about who you accuse of childish rants.

Go check the "films", laddie. If you don't see a childish "CLOWN", you're beyond hopeless.

Reagan and Trump have the SAME ability.

They KNOW how to directly CONNECT to the people.

Reagan because he honed the ability as a major Hollywood actor.

Trump because he's spent 12 years on Network Television,

BOTH connect very well to the people.. and I believe Trump would join Reagan in his ability to "get the job done."

I've been here a dozen years longer than you, kiddo.....but this stupid Trump love affair that's all the rage here has got some of the more sane among us having second thoughts about the direction FR has taken.

Kneejerk hero worship of some mouthy New Yorker narcissist doesn't cut it in my book.
