Fort Myers Police Chief Douglas Baker has been fired for the wrongful detainment in February of former University of South Florida football player Nate Allen, who now plays with the NFLs Oakland Raiders.
Fort Myers city manager (a Black man)sent a letter to the mayor Friday notifying him of Bakers termination after Allens controversial arrest in February.
Re: Firing Of Police Chief Douglas Baker Congratulations on supporting the racist decison-making of your racist city manager. I would like to see that manager and the mayor of Ft Myers fired, fined and jailed for criminally supporting racist decision-making against whites who are doing the job they were hired to do. There is a difference between deliberately lying and covering up misdeeds and actually having made an honest error in the performance of one's duties. The error was admitted. Life goes on. But not for those in public office who have a reverse racism axe to grind. The City Manager and the Mayor need to be removed from office for this travesty. You are both a disgrace to the State of Florida and to the citizens you claim to represent. It is obvious that certain minorities now have rights and entitlements which do not extend to the majority of the population. Not in America they don't.
Please register your displeasure at this blatantly discriminatory act by a city manager (a Black) and liberal cow-towing Mayor against a (White) police chief who has been gored on the horns of the bull of reverse racism and double standards for minorities.

Of course the article omits the fact that the city manager who fired Chief Baker just happens to be a Black man.
Hmm..we can identify the Policee chief as being white, but we can’t broadcatst a description of a perp as a black guy
What happened to the girl who lodged the charges against Allen?
Obviously white privilege kept him in his job until-- oh, wait... well, still, OJ Simpson was hounded for years before his acquittal, and all he did was drive his white Bronco really slow. Clearly it was racial profiling.
A professional law enforcement official knows that the word of a 16-year-old girl with no other evidence is not enough basis to detain a man. The slightest amount of due diligence would have confirmed the charge as absurd.
Had an incident here recently regarding a burglary where there was all sorts of physical evidence and even a photo of the suspect with stolen goods, and the Sheriff still didn’t have enough to act on.
The skin color of the individual actors is not a factor in the lawful pursuit of justice.
Okay. You can go on back to HuffPo now.
Congratulations on your 30-day anniversary here at FR.
“The skin color of the individual actors is not a factor in the lawful pursuit of justice.”
I agree. The Tampa paper article is superficial and seems to play on the racial aspects of the incident which seems to have resulted in the firing.
Baker, the police chief, did have support in the black community. The head of the Fort Myers NAACP supported the actions police chief in this controversy. From a Fort Myers News-Press article about the firing: “But Lee Countys president of the NAACP, James Muwakkil, supports Baker, saying the way Baker handled Allens wrongful arrest only proved his leadership.”
The local paper article also noted Mitchell, the city manager, will not be hiring the new police chief since he is retiring in September. From the Fort Myers newspaper article: “Mitchell said hiring a new chief will be the new city managers responsibility. Mitchell has already announced his retirement effective Sept. 30.”
The Fort Myers article also indicates the police chief did not have the support of the police union.
Here is a link to the Fort Myers newspaper article which provides more details than the Tampa paper: http://www.news-press.com/story/news/local/fort-myers/2015/08/15/fort-myers-police-chief-doug-baker-fired-wake-nfl-players-wrongful-arrest/31706917/
aside... I could not agree more with your profile page, every sentence I read I said to myself I feel the EXACT same way word for word.
And then we have--from the Ft. Myers News Press article which, according to you, is somehow morally superior to The Tampa Tribune's coverage snatched from the AP wire--this from the fella who gets to keep all of the marbles, Nate Allen himself, prominently displayed in the article together with his blond bombshell of a wife:
Allen said it was never his goal to get anyone fired, but instead spark change within the department.
I just wanted the proper actions to be taken to make sure something like that didnt happen to someone else, Allen said Friday in a text message. At the end of the day, a man has lost his job and that is never the type of thing I wanted. Chief Baker and his family are in my prayers.
Yeah well, like I always knew it was the goal of black pro football players with trophy blond bombshell wives to "spark change" in local police departments. And to "pray" for fired white police chiefs and their families. Yah. Sure.
Why can't these mega-buck bedroom heroes just keep their lips zipped for once and enjoy all the perks that go along with being paid millions just to go chase a ball on TV?
Finally we are counselled by this august Ft Myers fishwrap that (ahem) it really doesn't matter what Billy Mitchell's motives may have been for firing Chief Baker, since the Ft. Myers City Manager just announced he's resigning his post next month anyway.
So THERE, all you bigoted white readers who even thought for a second this just MIGHT have been about race! Move along! There's nothing to see here!
