Jeb Bush won’t say whether Donald Trump is qualified to be commander in chief (keep Birthright C.)
Washington Post ^ | 8/18/15 | Ed O'Keefe

Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush declined to say on Tuesday whether GOP front-runner Donald Trump is qualified to be commander in chief, but he urged his rival to speak more substantively about national security.

-snip-

The candidate also said that he is opposed to ending birthright citizenship -- something that Trump has proposed as a way to deter illegal immigration and that another GOP presidential candidate, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, said he supports.

"Look, this is a constitutionally protected right. I don’t support revoking it," he said. "That’s not one of my – I mean, look, there’s a way to use leadership to solve abuses for people that are coming into the country, having children so that their children can be citizens. That’s a legitimate problem, and there’s a targeted way you can deal with this issue. But to suggest that people born in this country are not United States citizens, that they don’t have this in the Constitution, I just reject out of hand."

Yeah forget what the Constitution says, if you don’t buy into the Beltway BS, you’re not qualified.

So Washington Post frames Jeb (whom the RATS deperatly want to be the nominee) as the litmus to gauge the other candidates?

Take your conditional assumptions and narrative framing cr@p and shove it.

If Donald wins, good for him. I will pull the lever for him, as an anti vote against the establishment. Is he my favorite, no, but I'll take anything this side of a JEB Bush and live with it.

"Look, this is a constitutionally protected right. I don’t support revoking it"

Except it's not. This was specifically debated during the runup to approval of the 14th, and is covered by the "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" language. A Mexican (or Saudi) born here was considered to be a Mexican or a Saudi, not an American citizen.

the picture of his “press conference” this morning speaks volumes, problems, and desperation.

It was just him, staffers in his background, and not one image of who was in the room. Given the angle of the camera and video, there were only reporters there.

jbush is talking to empty rooms.

With Urkel being the resident of the WH these questions can be dealt with a sneer.

we need the maximum number of pictures of talking to empty or near empty rooms to show the lack of interest in anything he offers.

ABB: anybody but Bush. We have had more than enough of that Rockefeller Republican family in the White House for at least a century.

I’m a lawyer by trade (long lapsed though) and can’t make the call. It’s not nearly as definite as folks were saying yesterday. Not nearly as clear, not by a long shot.

He’s as ignorant as he is cowardly - what a combination. There’s also a Wizard of Oz joke in there somewhere.

I wonder if these candidates and their fence-sitting consultants have noticed that one of their peer candidates is unambiguously declaring a position on an issue and as a result is receiving scads of media attention?

I also wonder if these candidates and their fence-sitting consultants are planning to do a McCain/Romney and duck and dive when asked to express a position on an issue until Election Day and beyond, thus ensuring a loss?

If cowardice ensures a single-digit poll ranking and they do nothing about it, they deserve their fates.

Right now I’m a Walker supporter. However, I don’t vote until March and, even though I live in an early voting state, I’m not going to vote until the actual election day. Then I’ll vote for Trump, Walker, or Cruz, whichever of whom is running most strongly ahead of Jebbie. Above all, WE DON’T WANT JEBBIE.

If as a professional, you can’t make the call, then it never should have been made, and we can have a replay—which is desperately needed.

but he urged his rival to speak more substantively about national security.

Political dynasties, liar and thieves. Our unsecured lawless violent borders have been a national security nightmare for decades. That truck pulling into a Houston Walmart parking lot with 40 illegals hiding in it, could actually contain something a bit more dangerous.

God only knows what has entered this country from that corrupted country.
