Pistol-whipped cop says he didn’t fight back for fear of public backlash if he hurt black man

President of the Fraternal Order of Police spoke for the detective whose picture went viral after he was pistol whipped to the ground by a violent criminal and explained why the cop didn’t fight back.

“Local law enforcement officers are walking on egg shells because they’re so hesitant of how to interact because of what’s taking place in the media,” police Sgt. Heath Boackle told the NY Daily News.

The Daily News reported:

“The Birmingham detective, whose name has not yet been released, paused while a suspect attacked him during a traffic stop because he feared the country-wide backlash he might receive for killing a black man, the head of the local police union said Friday.”

“He who hesitates is lost,” Boackle said.

Last week a picture of the Birmingham, Alabama, detective went viral of him laying unconscious on the ground. Police and civil people around the nation were horrified to see images of the bleeding officer being celebrated on social media.

“Pistol whipped his ass to sleep,” one Facebook user had written.

Boackle said the detective stopped Janard Cunningham, 34, while investigating a string of robberies.

“The officer was just trying to diffuse the situation,” Boackle, told the Daily News. “Mr. Cunningham sucker-punched the officer, immediately knocking him to the ground and gained control of his weapon and beat him until he was unconscious.”

Boackle told the NY Daily News that the detective’s family found out about the attack through social media.

“His daughter was getting ready to go to college and saw the feeds come alive,” he said. “They were really, really upset. They were hurt. How would you feel if that was your family member, police officer or not?”

According to the story the suspect sucker-punched the officer and took his weapon and then beat him with it. So what was the officer supposed to kill the suspect with?

Not supporting the suspect or justifying his actions. I'm just suspicious of the officer's excuse.

No ... the solution is everyday MEN that SEE this shit jump in and commence to whalin' ASS !

Ladies and gentlemen of America ...
Apparently you DO need to be reminded ..

A government

OF the people
BY the people
FOR the people

If you separate yourself from the everyday operation of the government, you are no longer part of the solution

Birmingham, Alabama

From the 2010 census.
73.4% African American (Black)
22.3% Caucasian (White)

Splains everything, Lucy.

And then blacks will riot because cops won’t come to their aid.

The old saying applies here:

It is better to be judged by twelve than to be carried by six.

I agree. Every cop Union should tell their members to stay in the squad car. F***, traffic stops, they are only used to collect revenue. The mayor and city council want revenue; let them collect it themselves!

A large percent of these events start with a traffic stop.

It’s high time we fight back against these so called Black Lives Matter bullies and support our law enforcement. Most Anericans support law enforcement but so many are intimidated by these thugs. Enough is enough.

That is a fair question, Dawg: this officer does not clearly appear to have been intimidated into the position he found himself in. He was clobbered, unawares. The new timorous kid gloves in dealing with such situations might have encouraged the assault. But it didn’t intimidate the officer into inaction here.

“whose name has not YET been released” Yet. If he’d fought back, his name, his kids’ names and his pet parakeet’s name would have been all over the NYT within in first hour. His captain needs to put him on perm desk duty or kick him off the force. Kowtowing is not becoming a police officer. Kowtowing is what this administration’s “five days away from fundamentally transforming the USA” is all about. Obama hoped for it and this officer is an example of that change.

As a direct result of their attacks on those who would defend civil society—including law enforcement officers and gun owners—we have a world where law enforcers fear enforcing laws, and the dregs of society feel emboldened.

If we don’t stand up for our law enforcement officers being unfairly attacked you can rest assured that they will come after us next.
