“Ever heard of Amazon, ups? Friends”

It will have to be friends from out of State. The Cali Commies cover their bases. When we were remodelling our Kitchen in 2010 some faucet models could not be purchased or shipped to Cali due to lead content in metal or some such nonsense. The same will happen with Shower heads. That is true for legit retailors, maybe Mom and Pop oufits won’t “know” about the regulation.

The worst result of the computer revolution was the introduction of desktop computers and spreadsheet programs into the asylum of bureaucracy.

Left to handwritten ledgers and mechanical adding machines I am convinced that 95% of these ill conceived schemes of deranged authoritarian minds would never have seen the light of day.

That said, I replaced the the low flow toilet valves with a plastic version of the old all metal long lever arm float ball valve assembly. Same volume tank but the increased fill velocity achieves rapid evacuation of the bowl. One flush works more than 90%+ of the time.

We still have the older shower heads and 1978 toilets. Matter of fact I have a call in to my plumber to come replace the innards in one. I’ll keep them running as long as possible.

I am a native Californian; but I retired out of the trades, so it is my first stop when shopping for fixtures.
Unless it is cracked or chipped porcelain is as good as the day it was fired.

Yes they do work to get the waste products out of the bowl; how ever, the laws of physics require a minimum flow velocity of 2 ft/sec to continue to flush your house sewer (2% grade) line all the way to the city or county main line.
You WILL be calling the Rooter company eventually.

Go to the hardware store and pick up the parts, 18 to 22 dollars.
Do it your self, takes about 15-20 minutes.
Save yourself about 85-100 dollars.
I used to be a Plumber, you are what I used to call a FISH.

I too am native Cali (4th gen) but I was

and I don’t quite get the porcelain connection.

You are what I would call rude.
Plumber is a family friend. He charges me parts and I feed him and the kids and let them swim.

So, people add a minute of shower per gallon lost?

Exactly.

The "commission" has about as much intelligence as 3 squares Cheryl.
