Joe Scarborough Criticizes Fox News for 'Gotcha' Debate Questions
Breitbart ^ | 8/10/15 | Joe Scarborough

Posted on 08/10/2015 12:50:24 PM PDT by Titus-Maximus

Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough criticized Fox News for targeting Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump during Thursday’s GOP presidential debate. Scarborough referred specifically to what he deemed to be “gotcha” questions and suggested the focus should have been on policy instead. “Reince Priebus had decided to ban networks–this one, and I would have if were Reince Priebus too, so I’m not knocking him — I would never give MSNBC a Republican debate right now,” Scarborough said. “Pretty soon I would–things are changing really quickly at this network. But a year ago? Never. I undersand that. But the idea was to get news outlets, Mark, that would ask legitimate questions about policy instead of gotcha questions. There wasn’t a single question asked of the Republican front runner that dealt with jobs, that dealt with Iran, that dealt with ISIS, that dealt with the economy writ large, that dealt with foreign policy writ large. You had three questions. The first one was — I was stunned. I guess you told me Rush Limbaugh talked about this for a long time.” “The first question was on Donald Trump’s insult of Rosie O’Donnell and his insults of reality show contestants,” he continued. “Were they crude and crass? Yes. Would I ever say it? No. Would any Republican candidate say it? No! But that’s your first question and then the next question was asking this billionaire about four deals that failed and then the third was really a political speech that was veiled as a question with a zinger at the end going, so tell me, when did you become a Republican? It was, so I’m sitting there thinking, I thought this is what we as Republicans were trying to avoid.

Joe is absolutely right....

Republicans are now in the stupidest fight ever, pointing at each other and saying “you are an enemy of women”!

Could the Dems have even paid for this, had they tried?

So instead of talking about Obama’s 100 million Americans on food stamps, who literally cannot feed themselves, and the Dem’s demand to import millions more impoverished....we are accusing ourselves as participants in the imaginary war on women.

What a disgrace!

What a monument to imbecility!

The best Rep class in years, and the Dems have absolute losers running and we are talking about this.

And Fox News had something to do with it....

FOX did a tabloid style debate.

Don’t let FOX do a debate again.

Cause Joey knows the first question they’d ask him is about the dead intern.

From thehill.com

“Trump’s support increased by 7 points to 32 percent, according to this week’s Morning Consult tracking poll.

The real estate mogul’s closest rival — Jeb Bush — lost a point, dipping to 11 percent of the vote among self-identified Republicans and Republican-leaning independents.

Support for all other candidates was in the single-digits”

Lori Klausutis makes Joe Scarborough more like Ted Kennedy than nearly any other Republican.

It was electioneering for bush by Roger Ailes. Ailes saw how badly it had damaged FOX and begged Trump today on the phone and swore he would never do that again. Donald took the apology like a man and they shook hands. What we had was one whipped establishment puppy seeing millions pissed at FOX . He had to call Trump because Murdock made him call Trump, in my opinion.

“Republicans are now in the stupidest fight ever, pointing at each other and saying “you are an enemy of women”!”

So true. . .

and. . .

Can be re-written as “Republicans are now in the stupidest fight ever, pointing at each other and saying ‘you are not supporting my candidate and nominating some other guy not as pure as my pick, therefore, I’ll show you, upcoming SCOTUS vacancies be damned, you are demoncRAT/traitor/liberal troll and I am taking my vote and going home. So there!’”

Then how do you explain them asking Bush about common core, path to citizenship and if he had just called Trump an a-hole?

The moderators were extremely fair. They asked the most pointed questions of EVERY candidate on their most vulnerable points. Too bad for Trumpet that he just has more vulnerable points than most.

I happen to hear Joe make this point and dam if he wasn’t making sense. More sense than anyone at FNC. They should apologize for calling that a debate.

All I and I think most viewers want to see is Megyn Kelly publicly acknowledge it was a planned ambush and she took great pleasure in it.

Then in plain English admit what she, Bret and Wallace did was turn an event advertised as a Political Debate into a personal agenda driven (the View) type talk show.

I am not a Trump Political Supporter but their behavior last Thursday was nothing short of pathetic.

Combine that with the fact that they (Moderators) prattled on for 31% of air time and Candidates got less than 5-6 minutes during a two hour event was disgusting. Anyone wanting to hear about the Issues that we face were left wondering WTF.

Megyn will soon leave to join the big 3. She proved her bonafides to be a shill for the Left. (Which in my opinion is what her intention was to begin with!)

When you won’t promise not to run as a third party candidate, isn’t asking “when did you become a Republican?” a legitimate question?

Hmm funny thing, I don’t recall the “Moderators” asking Arbusto about Terry Schavo when the subject was over pro-life issue.

They also seemed to skip him on the issue of Sanctuary Cities. Wonder why?

I agree, big time. But I think Ailes was well aware of the actual wording of the political statement that Megyn would make.
I'm convince that he was absolutely promoting it for the GOP-E. AND for bush!! When the polls were coming out this morning Rupert Murdock called Aisles and told him he was effecting the profitability of FOX and to MAKE IT RIGHT!! That is what I see.
