According to a report released Sunday by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), the $15 minimum wage has caused Seattle restaurants to lose 1,000 jobs the worst decline since the 2009 Great Recession.
The loss of 1,000 restaurant jobs in May following the minimum wage increase in April was the largest one month job decline since a 1,300 drop in January 2009, again during the Great Recession, AEI Scholar Mark J. Perry noted in the report.

The problem was they didn’t raise it high enough. If I was Seattle, I would raise the minimum wage to at least $20...maybe $25 per hour. Utopia will soon follow.

It's only been raised to $11hr and we have this.
What will the result be when it goes up to $15?

But this way is much better, because government can simulate the effect of a recession almost as well as a recession can simulate the effect of a recession. That makes those who make these kinds of rules look very, very smart. Since they know so much about all kinds of things.

The government wants you and I to subsidize the lifestyles of people who, for whatever reason, did not get an education and do not make enough to live they way they want to live = wealth redistribution.
No thanks.

I know liberals who own businesses. They support this but they don't live in Seattle and they do not pay their employees $15 hr.
Hypocrisy at its worst.

Just because everyone with a normal IQ warned that this would happen doesn’t mean that it can’t come as a surprise to Democrats and their media. On the bright side for them, this means more voters dependent on the government.

If there is a rise in the price of something, there will be a fall in the demand for it.
This is pretty simple stuff, yet apparently too deep for liberals to grasp.

When the auto and steel unions fought and got higher wages, but employment in those industries dropped like a stone, you’d think the stupid worker who wants $15/hr for flipping burgers might have noticed a link between higher wages and unemployment. But no, they didn’t. But at least they can sit around doing nothing but talk about how they’d be making $15/hr if they could find a job. Idiots. No wonder they’re still making minimum wage. The perfect ending to this would be if states ended unemployment benefits, but gave them a job cleaning toilets in gov’t buildings at $3/hr.

It will be interesting to find, as time goes on, what will setup just across the city boundary. It is a well known phenomena in the Northeast for liquor stores, cigarette shops to be on the ‘right’ side of such imaginary lines.
As for fast food within Seattle, automation will come. Make a labor cost significantly higher and entrepreneurs with thin profit margins will look for alternatives!
