Damn....I was hoping to quite my job and go flip burgers.
It was pretty bad when Boeing moved to Chicago and 911 happened.
LOL
The problem was they didn’t raise it high enough. If I was Seattle, I would raise the minimum wage to at least $20...maybe $25 per hour. Utopia will soon follow.
"I did."
But this way is much better, because government can simulate the effect of a recession almost as well as a recession can simulate the effect of a recession. That makes those who make these kinds of rules look very, very smart. Since they know so much about all kinds of things.
The Laws of Economiss........................
Just because everyone with a normal IQ warned that this would happen doesn’t mean that it can’t come as a surprise to Democrats and their media. On the bright side for them, this means more voters dependent on the government.
Shocker!!!!
It will be interesting to find, as time goes on, what will setup just across the city boundary. It is a well known phenomena in the Northeast for liquor stores, cigarette shops to be on the ‘right’ side of such imaginary lines.
As for fast food within Seattle, automation will come. Make a labor cost significantly higher and entrepreneurs with thin profit margins will look for alternatives!
It’s Seattle, so who gives a smelly Obama?
And, IMHO, the city (and state) deserves what’s coming.
If they can’t figure it out (and being libs, they cannot), just look south to Mexifornia. Soon to come your way, oh naive libs.
Ya, wow, those “unintended consequences”
Well. They can hire illegals under the table. You don’t have to pay no minimum wage or report their employment to the IRS. This should be a boon to the local illegal community.
Nothing but effusive praise for it. One bartender is quoted as saying they have so much money now, they don't know what to do with it. They might "go back to school".
I smelled BS a mile away. A good waitress or bartender at a high end restaurant makes a LOT more than $11 per hour in tips.
Now with no more tips, they are singing hallelujah?
I don't think so.
Unexpectedly of course!
Local schools are looking for teachers, a lot of them.
Burger flippers, school teacher,, sounds like a good lateral career move. :-)
Those who have no ambition in life other than to play games or do their dope dreamed of a $15.00 per hour pay rate. They could buy more games and get more dope.
They never even dreamed that there was this thing in business called “the law of supply and demand.”
These stupid workers also did not realize that when their wages rose from about $10.00 per hour to $15.00 per hour their social security matching by the employer also went up 150%. Not only that, all insurances based upon payroll (unemployment etc...) went up.
After the minimum wage was granted the business owners had to raise their entire menu prices to maintain the other thing these ignorant people never heard of which is called THE PROFIT MARGIN. The profit margin has to be maintained to pay all of the business overhead (food, utilities, maintenance, taxes...etc) and still maintain the same income for the owner/franchisee.
Now, back to “supply and demand.” At first there is a very good supply of product to sell. However, with a large increase in the cost of employees the cost of the finished product has risen to the point of resentment by the public which is the demand. The business sells less product at a higher sale price but makes less profit and eventually is forced to reduce the overhead...the most expensive is...employees.
THEY WANTED IT, THEY GOT IT, QUIT BITCHING ABOUT THE PAYCHECK THAT WAS NOT AS LARGE AS YOU THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE AND WHEN YOU LOSE YOUR JOB JUST TAKE IT LIKE A SOLDIER SACRIFICING HIMSELF ON THE BATTLE LINE. It’s for the good of all you know.
In May, suddenly, for no apparent reason, Seattle restaurant owners became mean and greedy. Either that or the minimum wage was raised.
Republican’s fault.
