How’s the fishing, boys?
Were they forced to do that, or did they volunteer???????
What were those kayakers thinking? Why would they put their health at risk by floating in polluted mine water?
Dan Steaves said he and his two companions Eric Parker and David Farkas had no idea the water was the result of a massive toxic mine spill from Silverton until Herald photographer Jerry McBride approached them on the riverbank.
Its not uncommon for the water to turn brown during high run-off in the spring and fall, Steaves said. The color did seem a little more in-depth than usual, he said, otherwise, we didnt think anything of it.
And who did this?
“They’re called ‘boobs’, Ed...”
Reminds me of the book “the Yellow River” by I.P. Freely
Absolutely right. Loretta is on the case. Details at 11.
Yeah, looks like a cross between George Washington and Sitting Bull.
The sad fact about this is...there is NOT much they can do about the downstream mess.
But, they can handle the discharge STILL flowing from that pond.
So whats their excuse? Oh lets put some fish in the river and see if they die. NO KIDDING! They actually have put fish in traps in the GD river to see what happens! How bout walking the shore and picking up any fish that are already dead? Or hook some out that are in there? Know why? I bet they are scared to get into the thing with waders to shock the river to collect them. What would that tell you if so?
It is now in the Colorado river system and NM watersheds. Lake Powell has alerts on swimming and fishing now. Lake Mead is next...then Lake Mohave, and on and on till it gets to Mexico.
Live in Vegas? You will get to drink it very soon.
I am shaking my head..you are absolutely correct.
Ya got to laugh or you would cry.
haha! Best photo reference in this thread!
Here's an article that partly explains what is going on in the locale:

I got a feeling you're the first one to notice it...
EPA will pull a Hillary, and concoct a hare brained, convoluted scenario to make it all the fault of the mining company, and of course being a member of the Democrat/Obama Media Owners of America they’ll of course get all the help they need to succeed.
We’re a little short on details on this operation...I’d like to know what exactly took place and by whom to facilitate this mess...
Thanks for that link. Lots of good info and background there.
It's just a short ways north of Silverton, CO.
CO apparently has more than one Cement Creek.
There is a move afoot to have the area declared a SuperFund Site.
