Apparently, after five hours, the Chicago PD has the gun in custody.

Did they have to wrestle the gun to the ground to detain it?
south side invades west side
I don’t think there were any eye witnesses but I am sure it put up a fight especially if it was one of dem Glocks I keep hearing about, those are tricky little sons-o-b’s
It’s needed. Trust me. For all the pro-2A folks here, there is a remarkable number who still think handguns are outlawed in Chicago.
They might as well still be illegal, The law as written is so convalouted you will likely need powerful legal help for even a minor infraction. At least it’s a start but northern Illinois has got to be the most schizophrenic regarding firearms. Kids get in trouble for thinking about guns in CPS
I thought guns were illegal in Chicago?
How can there be a gun there?
Hiz Honor needs to write a few hundred more gun control laws... criminals will follow gun control laws... we all know that. right?
bump
What ever happened to the ‘one riot, one ranger’ plan?
I live not far enough from Chicongo, to be safe.
Nothing like a Chicago weekend.
Might that be Cicero Ave, with the Austin hood on one side and the town of Cicero on the other?
I live in northern Illinois in one of the collar counties. And you’re very wrong.

Sure the burbs are somewhat sane but can you legally carry on the metra, the RTA/CTA and spend a day at Navy Pier or one of the Museums? How far in feet/meters do you have to stay clear of a school or potentially unmarked school property, this week? Will you be prosecuted God forbid you need to use your firearm in one of these situations, like the Navy officer in Chattanooga. How many years would you have to serve for straying into a no go zone? All of this nonsense is no problem for me living in the burbs but it’s a much different story for residents that do not own a car in the 3rd district.
I don’t ride Metra ever.
I don’t do downtown. Ever.
Zero feet/meters actually. Don’t have a kid in school so I have no reason to go in.
I don’t live in the 3rd District so I don’t really care about their problems. Illinois laws ain’t perfect but they’re a damned sight better than Maryland or New York or California or Connecticut.

It could be but I don’t rember what site those stats came from or what year, just the stark contrast literally across the street from each other.
Your right Illinois’ laws are indeed much better. I guess I am just nostalgic for a time when at least I was able to labor under the misconception that there was equal protection under the law.
As am I. But at least as far as our gun laws go we are moving in the right direction. In my locale you can count on one hand the number of no guns signs. I simply don’t patronize them.
And a number of them have removed those signs in the last few months. So by and large I’m pretty satisfied with what we have here.
Now the pension mess is another story entirely.

Ha ha
Now you’ve opened a whole new can of worms, who cans worms anyway. That’s an issue for another thread/day.
Before turning in we should take a moment to pray for all of those on patrol tonight that it will be quiet and safe one for all.
Nite...
Gee - if a man walking into a building with a gun is cause to call SWAT, then my house will be on the news soon.
