He still could if his purpose was not to win but to get back at the republican establishment - and that’s what the repubs are afraid of, not that he would win.

If he wins the Republican nomination is the GOPe going to run a third party candidate?

With 17 candidates in the field, Donald Trump could be the kingmaker if nobody gets a majority of delegates going into the convention. He alone could decide who gets the nomination even if it isn’t him.

I don’t think Trump ever had any intention of doing the third party thing ... it was just something to scare the moderates in the party with so they would back off of criticizing him.

I also don’t think he will end up as the nominee but it’s been a fun ride.

So if a candidate runs on one ticket, then gets asked to run as representative of another party, this law would prevent that?

I can’t count the number of ways that this shreds the constitution.

That is a bunch of BS.

The GOPe is maybe even more corrupt than the democrats. I have realized that these thugs are capable of doing most anything after what they did to Chris McDaniel in Mississippi.

We might be better off if we didn’t have a democrat or republican win.

Good news, but it won’t stop a Trump 3rd Party run.

If Trump runs 3rd party, he knows he has zero chance of winning. He would be running to guarantee victory for his dear friend, wedding guest, and fellow elitist New York Liberal, Hillary Clinton. At least he won’t be able to help her in Ohio.

Technically, Trump would be running as a second party candidate.

The fix is in in Ohio. A RepublicRAT regardless of who wins.

“last minute” ? I doubt that wording is in the law, but if it is then the law means nothing. He would just have run at the “next to the last minute”

Excellent!

More states should follow suit.

(One hopes that this keeps Dems Hillary and pal Donald out of the third-party-election gaming business.)

I think this is it

Ohio Revised Code

3513.052 (B) The secretary of state or a board of elections shall not accept for filing a declaration of candidacy and petition, a declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate, or a nominating petition of a person seeking to become a candidate if that person, for the same election, has already filed a declaration of candidacy, a declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate, or a nominating petition, or has become a candidate through party nomination at a primary election or by the filling of a vacancy under section 3513.30 or 3513.31 of the Revised Code for:

(1) Any federal, state, or county office, if the declaration of candidacy, declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate, or nominating petition is for a state or county office;

(2) Any municipal or township office, or for member of a city, local, or exempted village board of education, or for member of a governing board of an educational service center, if the declaration of candidacy, declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate, or nominating petition is for a municipal or township office, or for member of a city, local, or exempted village board of education, or for member of a governing board of an educational service center.
