(CNSNews.com) The Catholic Diocese of Bismark, North Dakota, is formally severing its churches, schools, and other institutions from the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) because of the latters decision to allow openly homosexual adults and employees to work in the Boy Scouts.
The BSAs executive committee voted to lift its century-old national restriction on openly gay adult leaders and employees on July 27. The Catholic Diocese of Bismark, headed by Bishop David Kagan moved swiftly to disassociate itself from the now pro-gay BSA.
[E]ffective immediately, the Catholic Church of the Diocese of Bismarck and each and every one of its parishes, schools and other institutions, is formally disaffiliated with and from the Boy Scouts of America, said Bishop Kagan in an August 3 letter.
If your parish sponsors a troop, your priest has been asked to inform those persons associated with the BSA of this action and to inform the BSA itself of this decision, he said.
The Catholic Church teaches that homosexual persons are called to chastity and that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered because they violate the natural law, the teaching from Scripture, and they close the sexual act to the gift of life. The Church, in its Catechism, further states that under no circumstances can homosexual acts be approved.
I regret my decision but, in conscience as the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Bismarck, I cannot permit our Catholic institutions to accept and participate directly or indirectly in any organization, which has policies and methods, which contradict the authoritative moral teachings of the Catholic Church, said Bishop Kagan.
In his Aug. 3 letter, Bishop Kagan listed several acceptable alternatives to the Boy Scouts and to the Girl Scouts. These include American Heritage Girls; the Little Flowers Girls Clubs; the Federation of North American Explorers; the Columbian Squires; and Trail Life USA.
The Diocese of Bismark was established in 1909 and serves about 66,400 Catholics in 23 counties in western North Dakota. Bishop Kagan was selected to head the Bismark Diocese by then-Pope Benedict XVI in October 2011.
Catholic Diocese in North Dakota Severs All Ties With Boy Scouts Over Homosexual Adult Troop Leaders
Very good.
Where is that spine graphic?
Good news.
I assure you and take it to the bank. BSA is totally and complete history. No loving parent will EVER allow their little boy to go to an organization with homosexual “scout masters” . It is OVER!! A new, homo free organization is on its way. The law suits that will be coming after 100s of pedophile rapes of little boys whose parents should be criminally charged for placing their sons in harms way will bankrupt “BSA” in 1 year!! It is over.
All churches should, but many won’t because they fly the fag flag themselves.
Good on them.
I’m pretty sure the Tornado Alley and Bible-belt Catholics can churn out some pretty good clergy.
We need to send some to the cities. And everyone needs to send missionaries...never mind The Congo.
They can’t afford to get in bed with the “man - boy love” again, it cost them a fortune already.
I guess boy scouts will shrivel on the vine until the supreme court finds pedophilia as a right in the constitution.
I want my old time church back.....maybe I should move to North Dakota?
Pedopholia terms gets tossed around, really it’s a mental disorder for deviants who molest small children, pre pubescent. So beyond 11 say, it’s not pedopholia, but homosexual behavior.
This is good, but I sure wish the churches would stop assisting the illegal alien invasion.
Homosexuals by their nature are liars and predators and they prey on the week and the sexual confused adolescent. They ply them with booze, drugs, friendship, gifts and use them for their own sexual gratification and by doing so they create the next generation of homosexuals.
If BSA were smart, they would have pre-empted the Catholic Church and severed ties over the Church’s own sex problems. But the BSA clearly isn’t smart, or they wouldn’t have fallen on the gay sword.
Usage note:
The state name is not part of the name of a diocese. Thus, “the Diocese of Bismarck,” not “the Diocese of Bismarck, N.D.” (”ND” or any postal state code is never correct except when addressing an envelope.)
When there is danger of ambiguity, it’s “the Diocese of Portland in Maine,” or “the Diocese of Portland in Oregon.”
Didn’t BSA ALREADY pay out millions to the victims of homosexual troop leaders, which is why they banned them in the first place?
You mean this one?
I haven't seen it in a while.
If anyone should know what the BSA are up to is a bad idea it would he the Catholic church.
