RNC Chairman: Donald Trump could be good for our party

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus predicted that billionaire businessman and presidential candidate Donald Trump could actually help bring voters into the GOP with his brazen rhetoric that has at times gotten him into trouble.

"It's raw and I think it's real and I think that people are upset with government, I think they're upset with both parties...Donald Trump's tapping into that," Priebus said on "CBS This Morning" Wednesday. "I actually think it could be quite good for our party because I think what you're seeing is a lot of people people that were frustrated with politics are saying, 'Well maybe I've got an outlet here.' And if they're coming and tuning into our debate tomorrow night and getting involved in our party I think that that ultimately could be very helpful."

Last month, Priebus called Trump to say he should soften his controversial comments that Mexican immigrants were rapists and criminals, which Trump refused to do. Other Republican candidates have condemned his remarks in the past, with former Texas Gov. Rick Perry calling Trump's entire presidential bid a "cancer on conservatism." Jeb Bush said there should be "no tolerance" for his views on immigrants.

IMHO, Rinse Prius has done more to hurt the Republican brand than all of the RINO’s in Congress. Oh, ok! It’s pretty even.

So Priebus is having an ‘I might be seeing the light’ moment — he sees a way to help the RNC coffers.

Amazing how they change when the poll numbers come it, isn’t it...

The word “oily”, comes to mind... but “weasels” comes in close behind.

Wow. Sounds like the little twit Priebus has done an about-face. Not anything like what he was saying a couple weeks ago.

That’s exactly what I thought. The GOP establishment sees what’s coming and they are getting over their shock and getting in line.

Interesting comments from Reince Priebus. There are, IMHO, at least three Priebus motives at work here:

1. He needs to be kind to Trump to avoid giving him an excuse to run 3rd party if it comes to that.

2. He is probably starting to figure out that Trump just might pull this off regardless of the efforts of the Jeb-Loving-GOPe. Right now it is quite clear that Priebus has lost control of the Primary Process. His guy is losing and losing big to a superstar.

3. He probably realizes that Trump would ultimately smash Hillary or anyone else that the Dems could put up. Trump is certainly not his first choice but winning is winning.

So, in a nutshell Priebus has made the decision to get out of the way for now. Will he bacK? Probably. The pressure from the GOPe to DO SOMETHING is going to be big.

Methinks we are living in "interesting times". I hope it turns out better than the last 8 years or so.

He *hopes* he sees a way to help the RNC coffers, but I’d be willing to bet this is just a ruse to fool Trump- & the voters, into believing they will act in good faith.

THAT. is never going to happen, imho. If they were honest & decent people with even a modicum of self respect (let alone, respect for us), they never would have sold us out. Again. And again. And again.

Trump is killing them all. Now the GOP traitors wants to be his friend. I wonder where Donald sits with Democratic voters. Not heard or seen a poll but I bet he is also killing them.

he looked nervous on CNN Sunday and I saw fear in his eyes
