“Animal rights come before religion”

Editor’s note: This story was published in error; it incorrectly suggested that Denmark’s ban is new. See correction appended

Insane. Kosher slaughter is known for being as humane as possible.

If they ban halal but not kosher, then they will get a lot of flak from the muzzies.

Jews wishing to keep kosher dietary laws in Europe are finding it increasingly difficult; often they have to import canned meat from Israel or the US, which is much more expensive.

Odd, that Europe is much less hospitable to Jews now than in the 1930s...

No. Halal requirements are much looser than kosher requirements. Everyone has seen videos on the internet of Muzzies just hacking mindlessly rather than skillfully and humanely at hapless water buffalo calves or sheep with an ax. It is obvious that they often miss and leave the animal in untold pain and terror before they can land another amateurish blow with the ax. You can often see kids or teens in those videos laughing at the animal's plight. Very nice.

Kosher slaughter must be done by highly trained individuals with a razor sharp knife examined minutely before each kill. The kill stroke must be one smooth motion. If it is interrupted or sawn back and forth, that's not a kosher kill and the animal cannot be deemed kosher. There has been some bad publicity about certain "kosher" slaughterhouses deviating from the approved methods, but no one who is truly observant would buy from those slaughterhouses. I know that their product will never pass my door's threshold. I do not support inhumane slaughter.

This ban on kosher slaughter (that's what it's REALLY aimed at, they just had to include halal to be "fair") is just another manifestation of antisemitism by Germanic non-Jews.

The modern slaughter house method is instant so that beats kosher.

I agree. No reason to torture animals for the sake of some ritual.

I would opine you’ve never seen the Killing Floor of a kosher slaughterhouse in action. I have.

Not every cow presented to the Rabbi wielding the sword is accepted. The Rabbi can and does reject the occasional cow presented to him that doesn’t meet the criteria.

It is obvious to ANY observer the kosher method of slaughter is infinitely more humane than the air driven bolt through the skull, AKA the modern method. The modern method is not instant! The cattle continue to writhe and kick well after they are hoisted by their back legs onto the towline. You can watch them continue to wiggle and shake for the next five minutes as they continue down the towline. Some of the cattle vomit and defecate while hanging upside down.

Cattle slaughtered in the kosher manner simply lay down and go to “sleep”, passing quietly on. No howls of distress, no writhing or kicking. They simply bleed out and lose consciousness.

Both are inhumane.

Now I do not think animals should have youman rights.

But, as custodians of the earth we should treat them as nice a possible.

Before we eat them with BBQ sauce :p
