The Internet exploded in outrage this week after it was revealed that a Minnesota tourist killed a beloved lion while on a hunting expedition in Zimbabwe. That indignation reached Capitol Hill yesterday, as 4th District Rep. Betty McCollum was quick to call for justice for the protected African lion, fondly referred to as Cecil the Lion.

“To bait and kill a threatened animal, like this African lion, for sport cannot be called hunting, but rather a disgraceful display of callous cruelty,” McCollum said. Palmer says he was not aware that the lion was a protected animal, and regrets what happened.

Once again we see the Federal government getting involved in everything, everywhere. If this really bothers the country of Zimbabwe (and it should), let Zimbabwe issue an arrest warrant, and let that warrant proceed through normal channels.
But a Federal investigation? That’s a silly waste of time and money.

And definitely don’t let Zimbabwe handle their own internal criminal investigations, or the management of their game species. They are obviously not competent because they are communists! Uh no, it’s because they are ... well you know, they just aren’t competent to handle their own affairs.

Three days ago these people had no idea that Cecil the beloved lion even existed. Now to them the greatest outrage in the world is a single hunter who went hunting in Africa. Go figure.

I wondered what this was all about until I read that the lion-killer was a Romney donor.
Killing a lion requires federal investigation, but killing a Baby and selling the parts not a problem.
But an illegal that raped and murdered a human being? Nah, we’ll get to that next week.
He is already a convicted felon an ineligible to own or possess firearms in the US. I understand that he used a bow to harvest the lion in question.
