Bravo Ted Cruz! A Profile in Courage
Today, Ted Cruz got up on the Senate floor during a debate and called out Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as a liar and clone of his predecessor, the despicable Harry Reid. Senator Cruz did not mince words. He did not lapse into the soft euphemisms and dodgy language that marks so much of the drivel emitted in the hallowed chambers of Congress. He came right out and said that McConnell lied to him when he promised that there were no secret side deals employed to gain passage of the TPA, when of course, that is exactly what happened. McConnell conspired with his sleazy counterparts on the other side of the aisle to assure them that he would support extension of the Export Import Bank in exchange for their support on TPA.
It would have been bad if he had merely lied. But, as Mr. Cruz explained, McConnell lied brazenly in the presence of the entire Republican senate caucus when he angrily rebuffed Cruz's question about the deal.
It should not be hard to imagine what defiance of party leadership in Washington means to the career of a freshman Senator. McConnell and his cronies will no doubt make every effort to wreak vengeance against Ted Cruz, both in the hurly-burly of political appointment struggles or when he is on the campaign trail. It took magnificent courage to stand up to these rats and to point out that, for every major campaign promise McConnell made to get re-elected with a Republican majority, McConnell has proved no different than Harry Reid: no fight on Obamacare funding, no fight on executive amnesty funding and a quick rollover on the Loretta Lynch Attorney General nomination.
This and many other reasons reassure me that I made the right choice shortly after Ted Cruz announced his candidacy for President. I decided that I would back Ted Cruz every step of the way. I have been making donations to his campaign (as my modest means allow) and I have been speaking out about his superb qualifications, to which we may now all add: The way Ted Cruz sticks to his principals, even in defiance of his own party and its leaders, is a profile in courage. G-d Bless him and guide him on a successful path to the White House.

And it took tremendous cowardice for voters to stand and defend Mitch against conservative and even DEMOCRAT rivals for his job, and work to get him elected after he told them to their faces he would work with Barry if elected.
I’m listening to Cruz over and over and over on this. His reversal on TPA... for it than against it... dropped my opinion of him quite a lot. Better to argue for something strongly and stick with it than to reverse with some lame excuse.
Now, I think we may be hearing the truth about why he reversed his position.
We may actually be seeing another profile in courage.

Not since my last vote for Reagan in 84’ have I been proud of the vote I cast. I voted for Ted Cruz as my Senator and he is doing precisely what I elected him to do.

Not to quibble too much, but this ISN’T the first time he has fought leadership. He’s been fighting it since day one, if you remember the defund Obamacare fight.

Lies in the Senate? What a surprise. With the possible - stressed, “possible” - exception of the State Department - the Senate is the filthiest institution of American government.
Then of course I’m forgetting too, the øbama White House....
Ted demonstrates that he has presidential temperament, he comes from a family of heart-felt values, he is lauded by Allan Dershiwtz as an excellent student and one of the best debaters he has ever had as a student. By all appearances he is courageous, principled and without guile. He is the real deal and in my opinion the best candidate we have seen for decades.
No disagreement there, but if you’ve watched today’s proceedings, you see that he pulled out all the stops and proved that any previous defiance was not a one-off or flash-in-the-pan kind of thing. Cruz is the Real Deal.
No surprise about lies in the Senate here. What is surprising, in the most refreshing way, is a Senator who is not afraid to plainly speak the truth about the lies.
